Vehicle Detail
This is one of those cars that we sometimes hear about -- the ones driven by little old ladies, garaged most of the time and driven gently the rest of the time. It's a 2005 Nissan Altima with 55,000 miles on it; I got it for my father in 2006 so he wouldn't spend another season driving a different car without air conditioning. The car was like new then, with 13,000 miles on it, and behaves just as well now as it did then. This car is a step up from the entry-level Altima, which means it sold for $19,550 new instead of $17,000. It has air conditioning, power mirrors, remote keyless entry with remote trunk lock, an eight-way adjustable driver's seat, cruise control, an AM-FM stereo with CD player and steering-wheel controls, a six-speaker audio system, seatback pockets and a lock for the split rear seat. It's also got driver- and passenger-side airbags. Personally, I think it's a major plus to have fairly new Goodyears all the way around. They've got half the meat on them at least, and with a 740 treadwear rating, all I can do is say "wow" about these tires. I think they're a bit more than $800 a set where we got them, America's Tire Co. The all-around disc brakes are in perfect condition; smooth stopping, no pulsating of the pedal (which would indicate imperfect rotors) and no squeaking (which would indicate imperfect brake pads). It was never "hot-rodded" or abused; just driven around Fresno to the store and bank and to weekly senior-club gatherings, and was garaged the rest of the time. The discerning eye will notice some flaws in the body, however; my father did manage to have a few whoops-a-daisies that resulted in a bit of a rumpled right-rear door and a slight impression at the center-front of the hood. For one thing, it's mechanically in great shape, and has had all the oil changes necessary, so it makes a great commuter car or around-town car, regardless of cosmetics. But for another thing, I figure somebody out there has a cousin with a shop who could iron out any imperfections for next to nothing. There was also a back-bumper bender that occurred but was 100% fixed at a body shop, so that will probably show up on the history report. Bidding is starting at less than half the Blue Book price for a "good" condition model, so as to give more people a chance to participate. More pics coming, especially of the interior.
