This single-owner 2006 GTI has always been parked in a garage and is in excellent condition. The MkV GTI debuted an all-new design that won awards for best car of the year and best engine of the year several times each in the subsequent years. This “Package 1” GTI has many standard features that are high-end options even for new cars: self-leveling Xenon headlights with washers, 6-disc in-dash CD player, large multi-function display in the instrument cluster, trip computer with live fuel consumption stats, a thick leather-wrapped steering wheel with built-in controls, stability and traction control, various braking technologies (brake-force distribution, emergency brake-assist, wiping, etc.), electro-mechanical steering, cruise control, and Sirius satellite radio. The interior features VW’s usual attention to detail, with excellent use of soft-touch plastics and high-quality materials. The GTI adds brushed aluminum trim and an upscale instrument cluster with anti-reflective coated gauges and a large multi-function display. The cabin has plenty of well-placed storage and nice features like an adjustable height arm-rest. The GTI-plaid interior and golf-ball style shifter throw back to the GTI’s famous first generation. The hatch opens up to a huge storage space with 5 built-in hooks for hanging grocery bags and 4 tie-down loops for securing cargo. The back seat has an arm rest pass-through that opens for long small items like skis, or one or both of the seats can be folded down making room for enormous items. The 2-liter turbo-charged engine was designed to be sporty but still be a pleasure in daily driving. The suspension is similarly firm and confidence inspiring but still comfortable. The electro-mechanical steering is more fuel-efficient than conventional hydraulic steering and adjusts the assistance based on speed and driving conditions, e.g. firming up for highway driving. This car has been well maintained by the owner and always met or exceeded the manufacturer’s maintenance schedules. The car comes with a history of maintenance performed as well as records for all service performed by the dealer. It has never been in an accident or needed any serious repairs. It has received preventative service for all of the recalls and service bulletins. The interior and exterior have been carefully maintained and are in great shape. Every season the rubber door seals have been treated with silicone to extend their life, the leather has been cleaned and conditioned, it has never been smoked in, and the interior has never been abused with Armor All. Apart from light wear on the soft-touch door handles, it still looks like new.Two sets of VW original floor mats are included: a carpeted set and the Monster rubber mats for winter use. There is also a set of Dunlop Winter Sport 3D snow tires included (in addition to the summer tires).
