Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a really nice 1932 Buick 57S sedan that has spent it's life in a dry climate (Texas for at least 44 years). It is rust free, solid sheet metal everywhere and not dinged up or damaged that I can see. I was told when I bought the car that it had been used during the filming of the 1967 "Bonnie and Clyde" movie starring Warren Beatty. I have not been able to verify in writing but the family has passed down the story and I have reason to believe it is true. Two things stand out. In the film the 1932 Buick police car had a spotlight mounted on the driver's door pillar and this car has 3 repaired holes in the proper position (see pictures) and the enamel Buick emblem mounted on the right rear tail light housing is bent forward at a strange angle, both on the movie car and at the present time. The steel bracket has the same tilt, has not been tampered with and should normally sit at 90 degrees to the tail light. (again see pictures). I have tried to contact Warren Beatty to get info, but have not had any luck. The engine, transmission, drive train and steering have been gone through and all work well. The car drives nicely, steering is tight and brakes are very good. The chassis has been cleaned and primed, the wheels are painted and the radiator appears to have been cleaned and temperature appears normal when driving. The gauges all work and dash and dome lights work. The original clock has been serviced but the retainer ring is missing for the back side. All handles and knobs are there along with inside trim mouldings which have been sandblasted and primed. The only trim piece missing is the dash piece below the windshield. Other items missing are right tail light lens, original crank hole cover, windshield crankup mechanism, and window glass for rear doors. The chrome is 85% done, with good bumpers, radiator shell, headlights, horns that are LOUD, and some handles done. The hard expensive stuff has been done. There are new running board moldings, mats, original wiper, radiator cap, mirror, ashtrays, window shade rollers, inside visor, robe rail, foot rail for rear seat, and an original spare tire lock. There are 4 boxes of miscellaneous parts, screws, bolts, interior parts, panel patterns and remains of original upsholstery for patterns. Seats are still covered in orignal mohair for patterns and new top material is included for the roof insert. Most of the body is in old primer with some minor work still necessary before painting, but basically paint, upholstery, and reassembly puts you into a nice driver classic '32 Buick. Floors are solid, wood is good or has been replaced, and doors all shut with a solid crisp 'kachunk'! I had planned on keeping this car, but I am 3/4 of the way through a restoration on a 1931 Hudson 8 LWB touring sedan that needs to be done and enjoyed. I can only concentrate on one at a time and someone else will love this Buick. I am listing this car with NO RESERVE. I request a deposit of $1000 within 3 days of the auction end and the balance to be paid with a US bank check or cash at time of pickup. I will assist anyone in loading the car or can recommend a car hauler if you need one. This car is being sold with a bill of sale only as the title had been lost before I got the car. The 1932 Texas license plates DO NOT go with the car. I am sure I haven't listed everything you may want to know, so please ask questions and I will gladly get you answers, more info, or more pictures as needed. Check my feedback rating and be confident that you won't be disappointed with this fine car. Thanks for looking and have a great week! I forgot to mention that the fender lights are from a 1933 Buick and are plain housings that do not match the headlight detail. Decent '32 fender lights go for over $450 a pair if you can find them. The ones on the car have good rims and lenses and the bodies/chrome are good. Also included is the nearly impossible to find original glovebox clock.
