Vehicle Detail

Great summer project!! Here is your chance to buy a great car. I have too many projects and not enough time. For sale is my 1960 Austin Healey 3000 Model BT7. I purchased this car from the 3rd owner. He had owned it for many years. If I remember correctly, he purchased it in the late 60’s or early 70’s, drove it up until the late 80’s or early 90’s. He then dismantled it in preparation for a complete restoration, which he never started. I bought it in 2002. Fortunately, he meticulously labeled every part. You will see many of his original label tags in the pics. This car is complete. All chrome bits, trim pieces, etc. are here even though they may not be in these pics. You will notice in the pics a shot of 8 large wooden ammunition boxes. These contain the various trim pieces not shown in these photos as well as rebuilt sub-assemblies that are ready to go back on the car. This car was originally Old English White with red intererior. The PO painted the exterior gray many years ago. I wanted it to be Healey blue. This is a matching numbers car with many extra parts. I have the BMHIT certificate for this car as well as a clear Florida title. This car is back to a rolling chassis with most of the difficult, dirty work being completed. Here is a list of what has been done and the general condition. New right front outrigger, new sills, new rockers, and new shut pillars were installed. Chassis was strengthened at the front cross brace and around the transmission opening. New boot floor was installed. Floor pans are original. Chassis was then sandblasted, primed and painted. Seam sealer was applied similar to the factory original. New brake lines, hoses and wheel cylinders. New brake master cylinder. New clutch master cylinder. New fuel line. New wiring harness. New battery cable. Horns rebuilt, primed and painted. Suspension rebuilt, primed and painted. Pedal box reconditioned, primed and painted. New Bilstein shocks installed front and rear. New cockpit heat shield. Steering box and associated components reconditioned. Radiator reconditioned and flow tested. I have an extra radiator. New spring boxes. Rear end sandblasted and painted. Fuel tank cleaned, primed and painted. Most other sub-assemblies have been reconditioned and are ready to be installed including driveshaft, throttle linkage, seat slides, and headlights. I have 2 front shrouds. The original shroud is gray color and was damaged at the left front as seen in the photos. This damage did not affect the chassis. The other shroud is stripped of paint. Both shrouds need the usual repairs from the effects of electrolysis as can be seen in the photos. If you are not familiar with these cars, the shrouds are aluminum and the wings (fenders) are steel. These dissimilar metals cause the corrosion you see around the bolt holes where the two panels meet. This is standard fare for a big Healey. I have one rear shroud. It needs the usual repairs from the effects of electrolysis. There are 2 bonnets. One is from a 100-6 I believe. The other is original. Both are in great condition. I have 1 set of rear wings. These are the original and were professionally repaired by Emmett Smith. I have 2 sets of front wings. The original set is gray. The left one was damaged by the same accident that damaged the shroud. The damaged area has been cut off of this wing. The other set was professionally repaired by Emmett. I also had him put in the rally vents. Boot lid is original and in good shape. Doors are original and in good shape. Front and rear bumpers are original and in good shape. I have 8 wire wheels but I would probably not use any of them. The wheels and tires on the car are just for moving it around. Seats are original and need complete repair or replacement. I have the original tonneau and I believe another tonneau in that plastic bag. I have the original soft top frame and soft top. I have the original side screens. I have 2 sets of tail pipes and that muffler you see in the pics. Windscreen and frame is original and needs to be reconditioned. The engine is complete and turns. It was running when it was removed by the PO in the late 80’s or early 90’s. I’m sure you would want to rebuild it anyway. As far as I know, there are no issues with the transmission, but I would probably go through that as well as long as it is out of the car. Carbs need rebuilding but are complete. Distributor is original and needs rebuilding. Dash and gauges are original and in good shape. I also have a hard top available that is not included in the price.Check out over 100 pics of this car here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/61289899@N02/sets/72157626407008904/show/As I said, this car is complete and a lot of the work has already been done. Don’t miss out on your chance to own one of these. They get more scarce every year and good project cars are getting ever more difficult to find. This car is listed locally as well as here on ebay so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.
