Hello, Here is a 1978 Mercedes-Benz 280 CE 5-pasenger coupe, 2.8 liter DOHC, 6-cylinder with automatic transmission, C.I.S. Fuel Injection. For a 33 year-old car it is in remarkable condition. Except for a few chips & bites (see photos) it is in wonderful condition. Always stored in garage in California. My 80 year-old mother is the only owner of the car who purchased it in 1978 from Mercedes-Benz of Hollywood. Non-smoking vehicle. We cannot lift the car to photo the undercarriage. There were no accidents or body repair. There is no bubbling of the paint. The console is in near mint condition. No breaks. The 'wood' is actually tortoiseshell plastic. There is no tachometer on the instrument panel in this model. Since we have other cars which we drive we do not drive this one very much but we do drive it and it runs well. I would not be able to make a guarantee about any car's ability to go cross country. I saw you said to another party you have additional photos...Could you send them to me and are there any of the spare wheel and its well, and the undercarraige? You didn't say but since your mom is the only owner was there any accidents (minor or major) and /or body repair. Mercdedes of that period were notorious for bubbling under the paint in the quater panels near the frame and around the wheels. In the pictures of the center console there looks to be some breaks on either side of the shifter...Can you confirm (how is the wood in general) Can you tell me what the car idles at in the tach and do you think the car would make a cross country trip.
