1977 LINCOLN MARK V LOW MILEAGE VERY RARE SPECIAL ORDER THERE ARE OVER 150 IMAGES OF THIS SPECTACULAR 1977 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL MARK V...TO VIEW THEM ALL, PLEASE PLACE YOUR CURSOR OVER AN IMAGE AND PATIENTLY SCROLL DOWN. If you have any questions about this very rare special order Lincoln Mark V, please call Jim Murphy at 706-429-7924. This is a documented low mileage southern Mark V, originally sold by Rivergate Lincoln-Mercury in Madison, Tennessee. Two rare appearance options were specified. First, was the extra-cost DIAMOND FIRE Black paint, which would cost $808 in today's dollars ($205 in 1977). This fabulous color reacts with the light all day long to show various iridescent hues. I've made the effort to take pictures under many different lighting conditions to illustrate the dramatically different appearances you'll see throughout a typical day. It is a very high metallic-content paint, which reflects brilliantly under the sun, yet is almost invisible at dusk. Very pretty. The second rare appearance option is the "FACTORY VINYL ROOF DELETE" option. Without the typical vinyl roof, the true architectural lines of the roof are now easy to see...the vinyl roofs obscured a lot of very handsome character lines where the roof meets the body. In fact, though the "Vinyl Roof Delete" option was a "no-cost" option...it cost Lincoln's exclusive Wixom factory MORE to produce a Mark V without the vinyl roof because ALL the body seams where the fender meets the roof had to be filled-in and hand-finished smoothly - just as Rolls-Royce and Bentley have famously featured on their bodies for decades. There is considerable beauty and interest in the seamless sheet-metal that gracefully runs down from the roof, through the C-pillar, and down to the quarter panels. Together, the clean roof and the Diamond Fire Black glamor paint create the most stunning Mark V I have ever seen. And, with less than 46,000 original miles, this motorcar drives serenely...in a confident and tight manner that even highly restored cars seldom, if ever, can match. The 460 cid engine option really moves the car with authority...a huge difference from the comparatively under-powered 400 cid standard engine. The engine compartment is near-new in appearance and the undercarriage is impressively clean and solid. This is a very highly optioned motorcar with the following factory options: Diamond Fire Paint, Black Leather, 460 cid 4-V engine, Paint Stripes, Leather, Dual Exhaust, Illuminated Entry System, Headlamp Convenience Group, Defroster Group, Tilt Wheel, Speed Control, Passenger 6-way seat and recliner, Appearance Protection Group, Right-hand Mirror, Interior Light Group, Power Locks, Power Vent Windows, Turbine Wheels, and Rocker Panel Moldings. With the dealer destination charge, this Mark V retailed for $13,818...or $54,486 in 2011 dollars. If Duesenberg was still making cars in 1977, they may very well have looked like this! There will likely NEVER be a production car built with this total devotion to beauty and dramatic proportions. It is no wonder that the Mark V has become the most actively collected model in the Lincoln Continental Owners Club. ALL classic Marks are appreciating rapidly now...an exceptional 1970 Mark III was reported in the new (April 2011) issue of AUTOMOBILE magazine to have been auctioned at Gooding & Co. for $37,400. In real estate it's "location location location" that drives value. In Classic Cars, it's largely "condition, condition, condition" that drives the car's value...and that is where this Mark V shines. There is a lot of "newness" remaining in how this car drives, brakes, accelerates, and looks...with just a hint of patina from respectful use and age (e.g. the bumpers and grille look good and photograph well, but there is a bit of "peppering" on them in some areas due to age - not particularly noticeable unless you're focusing on it...and there is a very small number of the usual small paint touch-ups). Every feature and option that I have tried - including the A/C - works well. I have taken a lot of pictures so that you will have a very good idea of the condition of the car. Overall, it is about as close to new in appearance and operation as you will ever find...in an exceptionally rare and stunning color/roof combination. Payment in full is due within 10 days of auction's end. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS ARE WELCOME but must abide by the payment terms and make their own arrangements for pick-up and shipment. I have sold vehicles to buyers in Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, and Canada...and all were happy. Payment may be made via Cash-in-hand, Bank Cashier's check, or Bank to Bank Wire transfer (recommended). Payment must fully clear bank before car is released. International bidders are welcome, but must abide by the Payment terms and must make their own pick-up and shipment arrangements - we will maintain indoor storage for a reasonable time and will work with your shipper for pick-up. Car is sold without any warranty expressed or implied due to age. Georgia residents must be prepared to pay sales tax for the county of their residence.
