Up for auction is this beautiful 56' Pontiac 2 door hardtop that underwent a frame on restoration last year. The glass, trim, chrome and interior were removed and the paint was stripped to bare metal before the body was massaged and the slick red and white base coat - clear coat paint was applied and then color sanded and buffed. The chrome has been replated and the stainless trim has been buffed and polished. The interior is completely new including: beautiful red and white vinyl seats, new door kick and side panels, new headliner, visors and carpet. The front windshield is new and the remaining glass is in very good condition although there is some slight hazing along the edges of the vent windows. There is a new dual exhaust system in place. The tires (BF Goodrich radials) have about 70% tread left. The motor (316 cubic inch V8) and the automatic transmission are said to be original, however, there is no documentation to support that. The engine compartment is clean and shows well. There is no power steering or brakes and the radio is not presently working. The car was finished late in the year and has only been lot driven. The brake drums were pulled and the brake pads were found to be in very good condition. The motor starts well and the transmission shifts in and out of gear as it should, however, due to the fact the car has not undergone a substantial road test it is advised that plans be made to transport the car. The reserve price on this car is very fair and will barely cover the cost of the chrome, interior and paint. This is your chance to have a beautiful collector car without having to spend years and significant dollars to restore one.
