1987 Suzuki GSX-R

We want to apologize to those that had already bid on this bike when we pulled the listing. We weren't going to relist but after receiving several requests, have decided to list it after all. There is NO RESERVE and a low Buy it Now in case you want to take it off the market. Enjoy and good luck!! What an opportunity for someone. This LOW MILEAGE 1987 GSX-R was bought from a gentleman in New Jersey in the fall of 2009. It had replacement farings that the owner had rushed to mount instead of painting first. The gentleman that we bought the motorcycle from had removed them for minor repair to a couple of mounting jugs after it fell over then had intended on having them all painted, along with the gas tank. The headlight rack and instruments and battery box were also removed as you see in the pictures. That’s exactly how we bought the bike. We don’t know how he did it but he had been able to hotwire the starter and ignition so we could hear the bike run. It has been sitting for more then a year now so the carbs will have to be cleaned before being able to start it now but it does run and it runs very well and the transmission shifts up and down very smoothly. One of the front brake calipers had to be removed so we could move the bike for pictures. Evidently, the left brake had locked from sitting. Since we have a signed, clear New Jersey title showing only 7500 miles, we think it’s much better to sell the bike whole and intact and give someone a chance to reassemble and ride this wonderful machine. Like we listed above, the actual mileage is 11,266 showing that the gentlemen that we bought it from rode it less then 4000 miles. OK, the specs. 420 pounds, 130BHP or 145 at the engine. If that doesn’t get your attention, how about 160mph and 10.5 quarters? Don’t compare that to a new bike because this is 24 years old! Remember that this motorcycle is only one year away from being classified as VINTAGE in most states allowing you a very cheap registration. Overall the bike is very dirty and will probably need someone to go through it top to bottom. We won't lie and try to convince you that this is a one weekend project. It will take more then that but someone working part time should be able to knock it out in a few weekends with some nights in between. It will need the front brakes looked at, the carbs cleaned, the instruments and battery box/electronics reassembled and of course the farings painted and reinstalled. All of the cables and switches work and we have the riders foot-pegs, they just weren’t shown in the pictures. We believe the only thing that we know that you’ll need to buy is the exhaust muffler and probably some misc parts. We don’t believe that anything else is missing but we can’t swear to it. We are making this available for no reserve because we would rather know that someone is going to work on this and put it back on the road where this near classic belongs! We have seen the other listings and they are nice bikes, some of them. This bike could be brought back to its best too and will be a good value for its owner with the low miles. The bike cannot be started right now as the carbs are gummed up from sitting for over a year and the electrics have been removed and must be reinstalled. It will however run once the carbs are cleaned and everything is restored and reassembled. Also, there is NOT a single drop of oil under the bike where it has been sitting for over a year!!
