You are bidding on a 1966 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. I purchased this american classic in January of 2008 with great plans to restore it to it's original grandure. Unfortunately I have not been able to find time to do it justice. Since my ownership I have done a complete tune up on it and serviced the transmission, and rebuilt the carb. The car starts right up and the motor sounds great. It drives and shifts well. The brakes work fine. Mechanically the car is in pretty decent shape. Whats needed: The car will need body and interior work. The driver side door panel bottom has come off but is included in the sale. The passenger side rocker panel and floor board are badly rusted and will require sheet metal replacement. I have had several body shops look at the car and they felt that it was not that big of a project to cut in new sheet metal to get it back to it's original condition. As you look over the pictures you will see that a good body man will be needed to get it straight again. The top was working when I first purchased the car but a plastic gear broke on the main lifting unit on the top deck lid. I removed the unit and sent it to an expert in Arizona to completely rebuild it. $450 dollars later it has been reinstalled. The top still has a bad relay and is not yet working properly at this time. I am not good with electrical so this will have to be addressed by the new owner. I have disconnected the hydraulic lifting rams and layed them in the trunk so the rear deck can be opened manually until the electrics are sorted out. I am including a complete set of rear lights and trim with the sale of the car that I purchased on Ebay. The car appears to be complete and is ready for someone to finish the restoration and enjoy this fine classic. It has the 390 engine with 4 bbl carb and Tilt away steering unit.
