Vehicle Detail
Without a doubt, the 70 SS is the most desirable of the 70-72 Chevelles and certainly the one with the highest resale value. This is a triple black frame off restoration with less than 300 miles on a brand new speedometer/tach dash cluster that was installed during the rebuild. The color is tuxedo black with smooth white stripes under the clear. The frame, rear trailing arms and front control arms have all been powdercoated. The A/C blows strong and cold. During reassembly, all ducts were sealed and taped and the end result is a very nice working factory A/C system. BODY: PPG base coat/clear coat with beautiful paint and laser straight body panels. It has a working flapper cowl induction hood mated to the correct air cleaner. The inside of the trunk is flawless and carries the correct spatter paint finish. Both quarters were replaced and all the front end sheetmetal is new. Open the doors and you will find flawless door jams and rocker panels. All the exterior chrome was either replaced or polished and both bumpers including the rear rubber pad are new. INTERIOR: All new interior with bucket seats, console, and hurst shifter. New window felts, weatherstrips, headliner and carpet. The door panels, arm rests, package tray, dash frame & carrier and padded dash are all new as well. The radio is a retro MP3 capable unit in an uncut dash. The gauge cluster was replaced with a new unit and carries the correct green markings. It is a tach/gauge cluster. All the gauges work correctly (amp, tach, speedometer, oil light, temperature and fuel). The dome light and console floor light both work with the headlight switch and door switches. The cigarette lighter works--a must have with today's cell phones. It has a tilt steering collumn and the steering wheel is the optional sport, brushed aluminum 3 spoke wheel. CHASSIS/FRAME: Powdercoated frame and front and rear control arms. All new power front disc brakes, brake booster, master cylinder and rubber lines. Flowmaster exhaust system with H-pipe and correct cowbell exhaust tips. The differential is a 3:42 posi track, factory 12 bolt with boxed control arms and all new bushings. All body bushings were replaced. The gas tank, sending unit and fuel lines are all new and the gas gauge works correctly. The front end/suspension was completely redone with new ball joints, drag link, idler, tie rods, control arm bushings, etc. It has the big sway bars (f-41 suspension) front and rear. ENGINE/TRANS: NOM, but the engine is a very strong 454 with a mild cam mated to a Muncie M-21 4 speed manual transmission. It has a new Competition Plus Hurst shifter with a matching white knob. It has a rebuilt, original 4 row radiator that runs very cool. The alternator was upgraded to an internal regulator model. All rubber pieces like hoses, belts, motor mounts, grommets, and lines were replaced. WHEELS/TIRES: New factory Magnum wheels with BF Goodrich tires. The wheels are actually 15 inch rims which give the car a subtle, more modern look and nice stance. The rear tires tuck into the wheel well very nicely with no rubbing. This is a very nice car that looks great and drives great. Car guys understand big block, 4 speed, posi track, buckets, console, tilt, sway bars and on and on........this car has it all. No surprises, no worries. My name is Mike and my cell is 903 268-3219. Please call with any questions or email if you like.
