Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1981 diesel Toyota pickup truck. It is two-wheel drive with a long bed and five-speed manual transmission. The odometer only displays five digits, so it shows 74,259, but I believe the mileage to be 174,259 based on info I received from the previous owner. I've had the truck for just under four years, and it's a great utility "zip-around-town" vehicle. The size of the truck makes it very practical for yard work, and I even tow my compact tractor on a trailer behind it on occasion. I have an original 1981 magazine ad that rates the highway MPG at 38, but it tested closer to 35 MPG for me once after a blend of city / highway driving. It smokes a bit when started cold, but not much after it warms up or when started warm. You can hear it run at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwYg01qTTC8. It has factory installed air conditioning that worked last summer, but it was only somewhat cold so it probably needs a charge. It has an after-market CD/AM/FM radio with a coat-hanger for an antenna. There is some rust as you can see in the photos. The worst rust areas include the passenger floor pan area and parts of the bed. I believe the passenger front quarter panel was repaired or replaced due to an accident, since the coloring is a little different than the rest of the truck, and also since the "DIESEL" emblem is missing on that side only. The passenger side rear marker lens cover is missing, but the light bulb and wiring are still there and to my knowledge work fine. The tires have good tread, but I believe they are smaller than the original size tires that came on the truck. The wheels and hubcaps appear to be original, as is the jack, tool kit, and owners manual. The batteries were purchased new from NAPA in the Summer of 2009 I believe. Included is the bed camper shell which I also believe is original (it has one sliding side glass peice missing). I recently drove it to North Carolina and back (about 1 hour 15 minutes each way), and would not hesitate to drive it on a one-to-two hour trip now, but there is NO WARRANTY either express or implied. It is being sold "AS IS". I had a new timing belt installed as a precaution at 171,049 miles. It has a custom built rear bumper and receiver hitch complete with trailer wiring harness. I have very much enjoyed the truck, especially the fuel economy, but I have too many vehicles and need to "thin the herd".
