Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V Custom Convertible This is the real deal. This is one of the few Mark V's that were built for the Lincoln dealers authorized by the Ford Motor company. This not a chopped top Mark V as a lot of them are. This is a real convertible with all the correct convertible parts. The header bow is a true convertible bow made just for the Mark V and the top mechanism is a true convertible top mechanism with an electric hydraulic pump; not just a jay-hook lock down as some of them are. The convertible top even has a liner to make it appear that you are in a steel roofed car. This is first class all the way. These sold new for more than $10,000 over the original sticker price so they were very expensive when new. I don't know how many of these were made for the Lincoln dealers but probably less than a couple of hundred. Even if every one survived they would still be very rare. This car was retained by the dealership for about 25 years and then sold to a collector whom I purchased it from. The car is very low mileage with only 24907 actual miles from new. The interior still appears almost new. The exterior is still very nice being repainted when I bought it. There are a few dings in the body moldings as its a very large car and got car doors opened into it and probably didn't get the best of care after it was a few years old. It probably sat in a shop for several years before it was sold the first time. The car had the original tires on it when I purchased it. They had almost no wear but because of their age I replaced them with a wider white wall. This car is all original except for the tires and repaint. Even the top is original. I have owned this car for over 5 years and seldom use it as I have several cars and never seem to drive this one; thus the reason for selling. I got the car out of storage this past week and since I put it away, the clock, door locks and AC seemed to not want to work. I had the AC converted to the modern Freon and it worked fine last year but is not blowing cold now. I would like to see this car go to another collector or into a museum as its a very rare car. This car runs and drives as a Lincoln should and has no mechanical issues other than door locks, clock and AC. I put 50 miles on it this week and it runs and drives perfectly. 460 enginepower steeringpower brakescruise controlAM FM 8 track radiopower windowspower seatsleather interiorpower top Normal 0 If you have 0 feedback or less, please do not bid unless you contact me first or your bid will be canceled.
