Vehicle Detail
1966 Ford Thunderbird Coupe. This is great running beautiful car. In 2007 I purchased this car from a retired Marine Lt Colonel. He had purchased the car in 1991 in North Carolina. In 1993 he went and had engine professionally rebuilt $2778.95. In 1994 the suspension and wheel cylinders, bushings, ball joints, axle bearings, seals, sway bar kit, upper control arm shaft kits, shocks and more were done at a cost of $1,693.77. In 1996 he took the car to R & J Automotive Rebuilders in Falmouth VA and the body was totally restored at a cost of $9,056.11. Also, many switches, relays, flasher sequencer w/electronic unit were replaced at a $2,046.28 the whole system was gone over. A grand total of $17,586.39 in restoration receipts in a notebook with plastic sleeves. Remember that was in mid 1990's dollars. He put on 5000 miles and I have put on about 1500 miles since the rebuild. I had to have the car appraised for insurance purposes and have a notarized appraisal at $20,000. This car has the swing away steering wheel. In November 2010 the radiator was copper recored. New thermostat, upper and lower hoses $350.[There was no rust in cooling system not even in engine under the thermostat]. A new battery $95.38. Spark plug wires and platinum plugs were installed in 2008 along with front wheel bearings. The front disc brakes, booster and master cylinder were installed in 2010 at a cost of $440.00. Trunk is solid metal no rust, inside and out was taken down to bare metal when car was rebuilt. Whole body was taken down to bare metal in rebuild. Is on rebuild papers. No cracks in dash or steering wheel. Comes with rear fender skirts that need to be painted and a shop manual. Power antenna works fine. All of the lights on and in the car work. Mechanicly the car is excellent. All of the windows work except the right rear window does not open. You can hear the window motor turning though. The AM radio and 4-speakers work the 8-track does not work. The clock does not work. The gas guage does work intermittently. The windshield has some minor scratching from wiper arms. The blades were replaced a couple of years ago. Although car is not driven in rain. There is also a tiny crack inside underneath adhesive where interior mirror is attached to windshield. It has been like that since 1991 and has not gotten any larger. Has A/C but does not blow cold. Heater works excellent. The drivers seat had a couple of lower seat seams repaired. Car is always garaged and only taken out in nice weather, no rain. Has not seen snow or salt with me or previous owner. All you see on the paint and bumpers is reflections. Although there is some fading on bumpers. The specifics of what work has been done is in the receipts. This is a great car that is a pleasure to drive. The longer video shows the car cruising at a steady 60 mph. If you would like inspect car in person or if you have any questions please e-mail me. Thank You.
