Up for auction is this 1953 M38A1. This Willys Jeep was acquired from the military by the City of Milwaukee in 1975. It was left in its original Army paint scheme and used at the city's nursery until about 15 years ago, where it was placed in a warehouse and forgotten. I picked this up last year and spent many months obtaining a clear Wisconsin title. I now have a clear title for it, so Good Luck Bidding! This M38A1 is a great candidate for restoration. The floors are solid with only surface rust in some areas. This M38A1 has the original 24V system and many original parts. The manual choke is missing, starts up hard, but once it warms up it will shift smoothly through all the gears. The brakes work, but will need to be redone. This M38A1 will start up and run, but I strongly suggest replacing all belts and hoses and giving it a complete tune up. If you win this Jeep, you can restore it or drive as is. The homemade horizontal supports on the canvas top frame were removed, and the frame is stored in the down position in the photos. The windshield frame is ruined and unserviceable. The build data plate is stamped 12/53.
