THE OVERVIEW Offered for an appreciating new owner is this one-of a kind 1977 BMW 630CSi with '88 M6 engine and MANY other custom modifications. Just acquired from the first owner who purchased this car right here in the bay area 34 years ago, this rust-free first-year E24 6er shark is a VERY special automobile. At its heart is a 3.5 liter 256 horsepower inline six cylinder Motorsport engine which was installed with 60,XXX miles in 1992. The total bill for the engine, clutch, transmission and many other elements was over $30,000! NOTE: This engine ALSO has since received a five-figure rebuild approximately 30,000 miles ago. Finished in unique "topaz" copper metallic over the original tan leather interior, this car really stands out even amidst other BMWs. This car has been driven approximately 6,000 miles per year and is in excellent to near perfect condition overall and it is a virtually 100% rust-free Karmann-bodied classic 6 series. THE BODY AND TRIM I would rate the exterior finish of this car excellent to superb overall. The topaz metallic [re] paint is glossy and deeply lustruous with only a couple very minor blemishes. The weakest area of the car is the front spoiler which shows some paint chipping and scrapes and missing tow hook cover. The chrome mirrors and other brightwork and trim are in exceptional condition! THE INTERIOR. As I hope is articulated in the photos the inside of this always non-smoker car is in excellent to mint condition overall. From the original loop carpeting to the custom headliner and the AMAZINGLY PERFECT dash, the interior of this car is quite special. The stereo is breathtaking, the factory leather seats still comfortable and supportive. Even the door panels [with modified speaker housings] and the rear deck pieces are amazingly clean. All the controls work very well inside the car except for the driver side window that needs a new regulator and the A/C needs a charge or possible component replacement [The whole system has been rebuilt once prior as documented in the maintenance records I have]. THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE This M-powered 630CSi is quite something to drive...the engine pulls strong through the entire powerband right past the redline, the brakes are strong with excellent feel and straight stopping, the exhaust is quiet with a satisfying rumble. The suspension is dialed in extra firm [not exactly certain of the details] free of any clunks or rattles or looseness. The shifting is also crisp and accurate.
