1995 Triumph Thunderbird

1995 Triumph Thunderbird 900. Last ridden in October 2010, but it would not idle, and was hard to shift. Also, the starter would spin freely, or make a loud clacking noise about every third time. The bike is not presently running. The carburetors have been rebuilt with all new rubber, and are very clean. The tires have less than 1000 miles on them. All electrics work fine. The paint is very good, with no dents or scratches. The chrome is good, with the exception of some light pitting on the taillight bezel, plus the tachometer bezel has some damage. The bike appears to never have been down. It rode straight, and felt fine going down the road. However, the previous owner did some tack welding where the hard bags were attached to the frame. This should be ground off and re-painted. He also added some aftermarket running lights. The rear signals, taillight and license plate were moved down the rear fender, and the front signals were replaced. None of this was done very well. The bags, trunck, and fairing are included in this auction. The tank is clean on the inside. There is a fat spark on all three plugs. Compression is very good on all 3 cylinders - at around 160psi each. A local mechanic gave the bike a thorough inspection, and determined the bike needed the following items: 1- A new starter clutch. 2. A new shifter/gearchange shaft assembly. 3. A new swingarm (there is a crack at the tail end of the swingarm where it bolts together - to loosen the rear wheel.) Buyer to pay for and arrange shipping and handling costs. Otherwise, I would be willing to deliver within 250 miles of Minneapolis, MN for $0.50 per mile.
