Vehicle Detail
This is one of the finest examples of a Mercedes 300TD Turbo Diesel Wagon anywhere in the country. This car is in oustanding, superb and impeccably well-kept condition. The TV show "Myth Busters" tested these cars for fuel economy and they got 33mpg- most users can expect that sort of mileage. And as far as durability, these cars have an average life-before-rebuild of 500,000 miles on the motors. This is the one you've been saving for! This car is the highly desirable 3.0L Turbo Diesel engine with automatic transmission, in the WAGON body style. It also has the folding THIRD ROW SEAT. (I will post photos of the third seat) This car has no rust, NO RUST and NO RUST! This car needs nothing. I would not hesitate to get in and drive this car cross-country tomorrow. The paint on this car appears to be all-original. There is no sign of any paintwork, bodywork or accidents, ever. The paint is in what I'd consider to be exceptional condition for 30-year old paint. It gleams, shines and looks beautiful. It isn't cracked, sun-faded or peeling. This car looks gorgeous. This car currently has 262,054 original miles. And it looks, runs and drives like a car with 30,000 miles. No joke. I purchase specialty cars from private owners, and this one came from a wealthy private owner here in Ohio. This car has had 3 owners since new. It was originally ordered new by a doctor who lived in Florida. He specified two things, the better "KKK" brand turbocharger and the retractable dog gate/cargo tonneau cover in the rear. It was then owned by a collector in Alabama, then came up here to Ohio two years ago. It has always been garaged since it was brand new, and has never seen salt or snow. It has always been professionally serviced. This car has an incredible maintenance and ownership history. The most recent owner was obsessively diligent about maintaining this car. Recent work (I have all receipts) includes a 4-wheel alignment, all-synthetic oil changes, new oil cooler lines, transmission hoses and fluid exchange, new radius arm bushings and rear axles, new idler arm bushings, tie rods, motor mounts, upper control arms, drive belts and all new brakes. This is several thousand dollars just in recent preventative maintenance. The owner was so careful, that he kept a stock of spare parts for the car, which are included with the car. These parts are worth over $1000 alone and include all new weatherstripping for the car (though it doesn't really need it), 9 new oil/fuel filters, new climate control wood panel veneer, lots of spare belts, gaskets, hoses and mini-filters, a seat spring rebuild kit and two wheel bearing kits. Let me stress, the car needs NO WORK at all- these are just spare parts for regular preventative maintenance. There isn't the slightest bit of rust or corrosion on this car anywhere. I cannot imagine finding a cleaner example of this car. There are no significant dings or dents and the body is absolutely clean and straight. The car has the original Becker radio, which works great. On these cars it is important to check the condition of the accessories, and I can report that the cruise control, climate control, all power windows and rear window wiper are working great. The motor starts up perfectly and doesn't smoke or hesitate. The motor has no blow-by. The motor shows excellent oil pressure and the temp holds perfectly. The turbo boosts strongly and the transmission shifts perfectly. The tires are nearly new Michelins- they have just a few thousand miles on them. The brakes and suspension are good, with no problems. This car will do 80mph on the highway with no trouble- I just did it today. Again, I would trust this car to drive absolutely anywhere. The underside of this car is spotlessly clean- you could eat off it. Under the hood is the same way- spectacularly clean and beautiful. Every older car has its faults- here is what I can report: the front seat belt receptacles are missing their plastic covers, there is a minor split in a seam on the driver's seat, the driver's seat springs are somewhat worn out (a new kit is included), there is some play/looseness in the steering box as expected with the age, the driver's side mirror is partially discolored, and there are a few nicks, scratches, and two buffer burn marks that have been brush-touched. Thats it. Along with the most recent owner's full service and maintenance receipts, this car also comes with the original tool kit, original first-aid kit and the very rare retractable dog gate and vinyl tonneau cover (see photos). This car is stored in my building in Willoughby, OH. If you have any questions about the car, or you would like to see it, please call me at 440 339 4341. It is impossible to realize what a spectacular automobile this is without seeing the detailed photos. This car would fit in as part of a specialty collection or at a museum, no doubt.
