It’s in great condition and is powered by a 180 horsepower turbocharged engine. The engine was built in 1998 from the ground up with new or “as new” components so it has tons of new miles ahead of it. Drivetrain: The Chevrolet Corvair listed here has a turbocharged flat six-cylinder engine with a Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission and an aftermarket Carter engine knock eliminator. The engine and transmission include new crank, new cylinders, new Vega clutch, rebuilt distributor, rebuilt alternator, rebuilt turbo carburetor and new fuel pump. It starts and runs well and we recently put in a brand new ACDelco battery. The brakes work fine. Exterior: The Corvair appears to have had a recent paint job of “driver” quality that could benefit from a nice buff. There is slight bubbling near the bottom of the driver’s side windshield (see photo) and a few minor chips on the hood. The aftermarket 14” wheels are in great condition and the tires are fairly new with plenty of tread. Spare tire is included. All exterior lights work. Doors, hood and trunk fit well and shut tightly. Also has a trailer hitch attached to the rear. Interior: The interior looks to have been restored since the black vinyl is in very good condition with no rips, tears or signs of much wear. All interior lights and gauges appear to work, except for the fuel gauge which continues to read as “full.” There is an aftermarket AM/FM radio with a cassette player, but it doesn’t work. The interior is only missing a horn button, cigarette lighter and the actual glove box (the door is there). Overall: Please keep in mind that this Chevy has been kept in climate controlled storage for the past 3 years and while it runs and drives, we suggest that a qualified mechanic take a look at the car. The Chevy is currently registered in the state of California and comes with a title and black plate on the rear. We invite all prospective buyers to come and inspect the vehicle in person.
