Hello you are looking at our 1968 Pontiac Firebird HO. This is a two owner car, the previous owner has had the car since 1969 and since then it has resided in the Northern California valley. For being a 43 year old automobile, it is it very good shape. There is no visible rust anywhere, all of the mechanics work and operate correctly, the exterior is free of any dents or major scratches, and the interior is in near new condition. We have records that go back to 1977 that show the car to be of original mileage which is currently just over 89K. It is a numbers matching engine and 4 speed transmission. The overall condition of this car is probably somewhere between a 6 and 7 mostly due to the quality of the repaint. We do not have the invoice for the repaint, but our guess is that it was done in the eighties as most late sixties cars were repainted in this era. The paint isn’t terrible, however, the car wasn’t completely disassembled when it was done. It is still glossy and perfectly acceptable as a nice driver, it just isn’t going to win any concourse type car shows. The engine compartment is of similar level to the paint quality, it’s all there and as far as we know of original content, but it could use some good detailing to be of show material. The interior of the car is in very good shape, one of the nicer points of this car. The mechanical nature is very good, the engine fires right away with no smoke, the transmission shifts well with no syncro problems, the clutch feels good with no slippage (we have an invoice that shows all of the major components of the clutch were replaced less than 20,000 miles ago), the power steering and brakes operate correctly, and the car drives straight down the road. The rear end is an open diff, and the gearing is fairly low (60 mph is about 3200-3400 rpm in 4th gear). This car has period correct “Montgomery Ward” air conditioning that is the same old story, probably just needs a recharge, but we have not tried to get it working. As you can see from the under photos below, the underside of this car is in good shape, no visible rust or signs of previous collision damage, the engine and trans are moist underneath but it does not drip fluid on the ground while parked or running. We have a receipt from1979 that he original engine was removed from the car to replace the main seal, timing chain and assembly, and motor and transmission mounts, this was done at 20,559 miles. The original engine went back in the car at this time (still numbers matching).
