Vehicle Detail

1970 Ford Bronco Up for auction is this sharp 1970 Ford Bronco with UNCUT FENDERS. This classic is equipped with the 170 CID 6 cylinder engine with the "three on the tree" (3 speed column shift) transmission. It bears the VIN code of U14 which means this vehicle is the "half-cab" pickup model (U13 vehicles were the "roadster version, U14 the pickup version, and U15 the full top wagon version). This one is the half cab or pickup model and is one of only 1700 pickup models built in 1969-70. This Bronco has 2 shock absorbers for each front wheel, heavy duty suspension (especially useful for towing), and other subtle similarities to the rare "Rocky Mountain Edition" Broncos offered only through select dealers. This Bronco has the lighting hookup for towing. The vehicle was built in August and is painted in Sky View Blue with white top, bumpers, seats and trim. It is a true southern vehicle and was sent to the New Orleans area for sale when it was built. The engine starts and runs solidly with no leaks of any fluids, and idles and accelerates smoothly with no missing or stuttering. The clutch and transmission operate smoothly and precisely with no slippage, grinding or scraping on upshifts and downshifts. The brakes operate smoothly and quietly with no pulling in either direction. The frame and undercarriage are solid showing only minor surface rust. The body, floorpans, inner fenderwells are clean with no rusting issues. This is a southern car, so rust is not a problem. The interior is clean as well, with no holes or tears or excessive wear on the seats, and the dash pad is clean and undamaged. All guages and lights work correctly, even the 40 year old AM radio plays without distortion. The heater and defroster work correctly. The glove box is clean and functional, and the doors and windows work smoothly with no wind noise out of the normal sounds associated with a vehicle in motion. The wheels are from a later model Ford and the tires are Maxxis Buckshot Mudders. The arm rests do need to be replaced (a minor task) and one window crank handle is missing the plastic knob at the end. On a scale of 1-10 this Bronco is a solid 8.5-9.0. All it needs are some cosmetic touches such as the "horn " section of the air cleaner, the already mentioned arm rests, and a little care and attention to details like polishing the bezels around the dash buttons. The wipers and washers work properly and I do not think the windshield has ever been replaced. The swing away tire carrier is in the passenger area of the vehicle and needs cleaning and repainting before remounting. All in all it is a very well taken care of Bronco that would be great fun to drive to cruise-ins, or for towing your boat to the lake or use it as is for an attention getting daily driver. Just be prepared for a lot of admiring looks and question from folks that would love to own such a classic example of American motoring history. Included with the vehicle are the 1970 Ford Bronco Owners Manual and even a 1970 Ford color brochure covering Ford wagon models including the bronco. This is the last of my collectible vehicles to sell and is 85% complete. Health concerns and limitations prohibit me from finishing this one, and from using it as much as I would if only I could. I want to pass it on to someone else to use and enjoy, for doing projects like this one are a labor of love for the project itself; not about monetary gain from it's completion.
