Vehicle Detail

1972 Dodge Dart 4 Door Sedan, 225 c.i. Slant Six, column-shift three speed with only 45,000 ORIGINAL miles. I bought this car about a year ago from a guy who found it six years previously. It had been well taken care of but had been sitting for quite some time when he bought it. So he did the following work on it: NEW: Michelin tires, Master cylinder and brakes all the way around, Shocks front and rear, Wheel bearings, Fuel tank, lines and fuel pump. He installed a professionally rebuilt carburetor as well as a Pertronix electronic ignition conversion kit. It has had a complete tune up including plugs, wires, cap and battery. This car starts and runs very well. Since I bought it, I have done the following to continue to keep it a very solid runner: NEW: Radiator, Water Pump, Hoses, Thermostat, Belt Glove Box, Door Window Seals on Front Doors for the track that runs up the vent window, Replaced one seal for the passenger wiper pivot, The body and floor are both straight and solid. The trunk is immaculate. The interior is very clean save for wear on the driver's side of the bench seat and the back of it. I have covered the bottom part of the seat. I also repaired some of the cracks on the dash, although one new one has appeared. I have additional parts including: The rest of the window channel seals for all four doors A nice 73 mainifold with gaskets, electronic choke, etc. Had planned to do this replacement this summer if I kept the car. Various engine firewall seals (I replaced a few of them) Service manuals, including Factory 72 manual A set of dog dish hubcaps that were originally on the car Clear VA title and the car is in Ashburn, VA The car has some rust - minimal - which is shown in the pictures. Some surface rust on the top driver's side fender, some surface rust behind the driver's side front wheel well, a small amount ahead of the passenger side rear wheel well, and some surface rust in the engine compartment firewall. Other than that it is an extremely clean, original car, with original paint. The front seat has rips in the base and upper part - I have covered the base but included pic of it uncovered. There is a crack on the dash - which I had intended to repair. Otherwise the interior is VERY clean. DISCLAIMER: This car is being sold AS-IS. There is no warranty implied or otherwise. I have tried to accurately describe the condition and show pictures of its condition. I encourage you to ask questions if you want more information. On Jan-27-11 at 13:30:42 PST, seller added the following information: 1972 Dodge Dart 4 Door Sedan, 225 c.i. I have covered the bottom part of the seat. I also repaired some of the cracks on the dash, although one new one has appeared. I have additional parts including: A new old stock thermal sensor that goes inside the air cleaner (they don't make them anymore), The rest of the window channel seals for all four doors A nice 73 mainifold with the right gaskets, electronic choke, etc. (I had planned to do this replacement this summer if I kept the car) Various engine firewall seals (I replaced a few of them) Service manuals, including Factory 72 manual A set of dog dish hubcaps that were originally on the car Clear VA title and the car is in Ashburn, VA This is an extremely clean, original car, with original paint. The car has some rust - minimal - which is shown in the pictures. Some surface rust on the top driver's side fender, a small hole and some surface rust behind the driver's side front wheel well, a small amount ahead of the passenger side rear wheel well, and some surface rust in the engine compartment firewall. In each of these places I have tried to arrest the rust so it does not spread. I also spent HOURS refurbishing the original finish on this car. It has many hours of cleaning, waxing, polishing, etc., to try to keep the original finish looking great and staying as original as possible. The front seat has rips in the base and upper part - I have covered the base but included pic of it uncovered. There is a crack on the dash - which I had intended to repair. Otherwise the interior is VERY clean. If you want to see what one of these looked like coming out of the factory, you can almost get there with this car. Even under the dash is immaculate, no rust, and looking very fresh! When I replaced the window channel I was amazed at how clean the INSIDE of the doors is. Just some minor surface rust, but otherwise extremely solid and almost new looking. DISCLAIMER: This car is being sold AS-IS. There is no warranty implied or otherwise. I have tried to accurately describe the condition and show pictures of its condition. If you are looking for the changes, I added one more item I'm including with the car (thermal sensor) and more details around the car's condition and the paint. A few have asked about gas mileage. I have been tracking it with every fill-up since I started driving the car (I put about 5k miles on it since I purchased it) and it gets on average about 21+ miles per gallon. I have gotten as high as 22+ and as low as about 19.5. But this is highway and around-town driving, which I think is pretty good for a classic! On Jan-28-11 at 13:30:17 PST, seller added the following information: A few have asked about the column shift. Please note as described this is a MANUAL, column shifted car with a clutch: "Three on the Tree." It shifts great but takes a little getting used to. The shift pattern is similar to a floor shift, just translated to the steering column. So up and toward you is Reverse, down and toward you is First, up and away from you is Second, and down and away from you is Third. I replaced the rubber grommets in the shift linkage with NEW ones to ensure it continues to work properly, and have had no issues with it once I got used to how to do it. Also, I noticed the pics of the interior headliner do not really do it justice because of the flash. That headliner is immaculate and a darker green color matching the rest of the car. It really looks new when you are sitting in the car.On Feb-04-11 at 04:12:16 PST, seller added the following information: A few more things about the car that have come up in various emails to interested buyers - thought I would say here for all: The AM radio does not work - stopped right after I got the car I found the original build sheet under the rear seat. That's framed and comes with the car. Again, when I took the seat up, I was amazed at how clean and "like new" the floor is. The car does not have carpeting as you can see from the pics. It was a base model, so just came with a very tough, durable covering. Like a vinyl. It's easy to clean and in very good shape. As I noted, there is a new crack on the dash and the dash pic does not show it. I can't add anymore pics, but am happy to send a pic of it to anyone who wants to see it. It runs back to front down the middle, and just appeared about 2 weeks ago. I had planned to repair it as I had done other cracks that were originally on the dash. I also replaced each of the side marker light lenses and gaskets with new. I have the originals, but the ones on the car are brand new. I replaced the headlights with halogen lights Some have asked about guages, etc. Everything works on this car (excepting radio, as noted). All guages work. Speedo, lights, wipers, window washer, etc. I have removed and refurbished the backside of the front and rear panels under the bumper. These had some surface rust on the backside, so I removed the rust and repainted the rear of these panels. I have a spare Carter carb that comes with the car. Needs to be rebuilt, but could be done and installed if you like them better than the Holley that's on the car. I won't reveal my reserve, but let's say it is extremely reasonable for a car of this condition, age, and model, and within reach! I have this for sale locally, too. I would like to sell it to someone who appreciates an original car and is not interested in it for parts. But mainly, I'd like to sell it!
