Vehicle Detail

Ok Guys, last time I listed my car I had several serious offers but just short of my reserve. If you watched the Barrett Jackson auction this past week, you saw how much a C1 can bring in the right market. Any restoration you do to this car only helps the value. It's money well spent and a good investment. I am also not considering any trades at this time, I would rather just keep my car. I am selling my 1959 Corvette to pursue other interest. It's a nice quality driver from California. It would need a repaint and some chrome plating to be a $60k plus Corvette. The car was not roadworthy before I bought it, so I had to do a little work in order to drive it. I replaced the intake manifold, carburetor, distributor, voltage regulator and all the wiring harnesses except the power window harness which should be replaced. Yes, it has factory power windows. After driving the car a few miles, I notice a scraping sound coming from the rear wheels. I found the rear drums rubbing on the backing plates because both axles where out of round. I replaced both axles and bearings with custom alloy axles from Moser Engineering. The previous owner replaced the brakes, fuel tank and rear leaf springs. I also installed the new Torq Thrust wheels and tires to give it the Hot Rod look. I do not have the stock wheels or wheel covers. It has a older 350 engine which runs and sounds good, but true miles are unknown. There is a high horse tach which means the car probably had a 270hp 283 engine. It looks like it still has the original Borg Warner 4-speed transmission. The body looks pretty straight with only a few stress cracks near the front fenders around the wheel wells which is pretty common for these years. I believe the car was painted white from the factory, but no trim tags in 1959. The interior is missing the original radio, package tray, right side dash cover and right side seat track which I do have. The tach, clock and temp gauge are currently not working. The seat covers are leather and not vinyl. The frame is what you would expect from a California car with no rot or rusted rear frame crossmember. The convertible top looks ok, but it should be replaced with all the weatherstrips. The car has the factory vin tag and I have a clear Illinois title in my name. Overall it's a nice driver as is or take it to the next level. Feel free to call me any questions or concerns. I welcome and encourage all inspections. The vehicle is located near Chicago in a suburb called Lemont near I-55 and Lemont Road. The vehicle will be sold as is condition. I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime because I currently have it listed locally. Any and all checks must clear before the vehicle leaves my resident. I will work with your transporter as needed to get this car to you. Thanks and God Bless. Art 630-664-1161
