Thank you and good luck. ***** UP FOR AUCTION IS A GREAT LOOKING MARINA BLUE (FACTORY 976 CODE) 1966 CORVETTE L-36 COUP 427/390HP 4 SPEED CAR WITH 79K ORIGINAL MILES. REAL BIG BLOCK WITH PARTIAL TANK STICKER. VERY SHARP CRUISER THAT WILL BE A LOT OF FUN FOR COLLECTOR OR ENTHUSIAST. FACTORY OPTIONS (from tank sticker): STD = Standard black vinyl seat interior L36 = 427ci/390hp engine K66 = Transistor ignition system G81 = Positraction rear axle, all ratios M21 = 4 speed close-ratio manual transmission U69 = Am/Fm radio A01 = Soft ray tinted glass, all windows N14 = Side mount exhaust system J50 = Power brakes Manual steering Manual windows Vehicle was acquired from upstate NY from this older gentleman's collection. He had purchased the car as a 70s style hotrod, and supposedly the car has some race history, but I do not have any documentation on that, and within the last couple of years proceded to bring it back to stock as much as possible. It is a FACTORY MARINA BLUE car, with fairly new paint on it about a year or so old (body taken mostly down to fiberglass and professionally repainted, with minor fender repairs). The interior remains virtually all original and has never been redone to my knowledge. This Corvette was also a member of these (original stickers still on windows): 1) NCCC (Natonal Council of Corvette Clubs, Inc.) 2) ISCA (International Show Car Association) 3) TRI-VETTES-LTD Corvette Club Interior is in very presentable condition and I believe it's 95% original. No real eye sores, just minor general wear as you would expect of a 50+ year old car. Good seats, door panels, dash pad. Carpet a bit faded and worn but presentable. Good headliner (button style). Steering wheel has a couple of cracks. Overall a NICELY PRESENTABLE driver quality interior that is virtually all original! Under the hood is mostly stock with some period add-ons and a couple of later model modifications but retains a fairly stock look as you'll see. The transistor ignition system is still there, as are the stock style valve covers, intake, exhaust manifolds, original gm air cleaner and the like. Sounds great and fires up nicely. Transmission is a stock Muncie M21 (all stock except for period-correct Hurst shifter handle) and shifts great wih no issues and no grinding. Brakes work well and the original "submarine" master cylinder has been recently rebuilt. Steering is nice and tight with little if any play in the wheel. I've driven the car here and there mostly, never on any long trips. It's pretty reliable and definitely a lot of fun to drive as you would expect. Underside appears to be SOLID throughout with a good birdcage, nice frame rails and solid chassis throughout with some surface rust from driving and general road wear as you would expect. The headlights seem to go up and down fine, although a bit slow as is common on these. The electrical system has been checked and brake lights/signals work fine last time they were checked. Being an old car, it is NOT perfect by any means. Paint shows NICELY for a nice driver, and was professionally done (but not a $30k paintjob), with some minor imperfections here and there (small 1/2" crack by front passenger wheel well). Side exhaust should be replaced as pipes have small holes and cracks here and there. Carburetor should be adjusted and jetted properly (works well but should be fine-tuned for this car). Missing: seat belts, spare tire and carrier, taillight bezels. Not working: tach (different distributor w/no tach drive), speedo (needs new cable), and a couple of the gauges are not hooked up right, clock/radio work on/off. A couple of the tires have a little dry rot and should be replaced in the near future. Front calipers leak very slightly and should be replaced soon, although car stops fine. That's about all I was able to notice from my inspection. I am sure there are other tiny details i've forgotten so please keep that in mind, this is NOT a brand new car obviously. OVERALL IT'S A BEAUTIFUL CRUISER THAT CAN EASILY BECOME INVESTMENT QUALITY WITHOUT TOO MUCH EFFORT. THIS IS A NICELY OPTIONED, 1966 CORVETTE L-36 COUPE 427/390HP 4 SPEED CAR IN FACTORY MARINA BLUE WITH PARTIAL TANK STICKER THAT HAS KILLER LOOKS AND EYE APPEAL AND IS BECOMING RARER AND RARER TO FIND NOWADAYS. DON'T MISS OUT ON A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY. Contact me at (917) 749-4302 cell or e-mail MBOTERASHV@AOL.COM. Auction may be stopped at any time. On Jan-26-11 at 08:07:38 PST, seller added the following information: Please note: I've been getting some rather disturbing e-mails from so-called experts regarding the tank sticker, so I decided to do some research on it myself. Apparently the "tank sticker" option started out in 1967, and as you can see from the date on the sticker in question, it is dated May of 1967 on the top. Now, I personally removed the old gas tank that was in this vehicle to replace it with a new one (since the old one was rusty inside), and saw the sticker attached to the old tank and removed whatever I could salvage. So that leads me to two conclusions: 1) either this car had a factory installed 1967 model gas tank when it left the factory for some reason, or 2) someone decided to all of a sudden install a 67 tank at any given time during its history and not notice that there was a tank sticker attached to it (which really makes no sense). Option 3) this car was an overstock vehicle left on the showroom floor (perhaps even a "late" production 66 manufactured in 67) or some sort of "special order" vehicle that a new car buyer decided to order LATE in the 67 model year (but preferred the 66 body rather than the 67). Either way, it's up to interpretation and we can sit here and discuss this until we are blue in the face. Please review this info and make your own judgement, as this scrawny piece of paper takes NOTHING away from this car. Thank you all
