Strong running and good condition 1966 VW beetle. Was my daily driver until I bought another car recently. I only put 1500 miles on it since I have had it (walk most places). No place to park the beetle w/o paying now, so need to sell. Second owner since the late 80’s. 1300cc engine rebuilt 2000 miles ago. Car was repainted (have color information - matched to original color and white was added) and restored in 1994 when the odometer was reset. Under 15,000 miles since then. While this little bug drives great at all speeds, it is a highly original 44 year old car so it’s not perfect: No radio, no backseat, clear coat on roof has a little sun bleaching, white paint on doors was retouched without clear coating (barely noticeable), horn is not connected but does work well, seats are from an old Jetta, driver side seat adjuster needs to be put back on… seat distance to pedals can be adjusted with pliers until its back on, back bumper (original german) bolts need to be adjusted slightly as the deck hood barely catches the edge of the bumper. Recently replace voltage regulator, but the generator light is still on. Car runs great but will need a new generator ($100) since the battery will slowly drains while driving. If gas is pushed to abruptly in reverse it will pop out of gear. Passenger window needs help on the roll down. Blinker switch doesn’t like to stay on right turns if the road is bumpy. Many records of service from previous owner. Transmission and clutch (4 speed) work great as does the motor. Brakes, tires, and lights in good condition too. Body is all original and is absolutely rust free. Dash and inside metal (other than doors) is original paint. No filler anywhere that I can see, and only very minor dings here and there that wont show up on camera. Original glass all around. I am sure this car has been a southern California car its whole life and the previous owner told me he garaged it all the time as have I. This car is a great daily or very easy project car to get it to show quality. Heater works great. Took out the replacement carpet from 1994 and installed black carpet in the front to match the original black carpet in the back of the cabin… have the replacement pieces of carpet that go where the original pieces still are too in case you want to install them (have the adhesive too). The brown coloration on the undercarriage is mud (not rust!!!) from the day I bought in February, when I drove it on a muddy driveway on the farm of the previous owner! Proof this car has been garage kept and dry! I have washed it a couple times but never the undercarriage. There is no rust on the undercarriage that I have ever seen. The headliner is unstained and in very good conidtion. Both sun visors are present and functional as is the dome light. Car has been professionally converted to 12V electrical system in the 90s. I have huge amount of extra parts including: transmission, rubber seals for doors and windows, cranks, vw emblems, shoulder belts, door handles with keys (current handles on the car don’t have key), and whole bunch of other stuff that I can’t remember or don’t have room to list. Comes with two shop manuals/maintenance books from the early 70s that are instrumental in keeping these old bugs in top shape. Comprehensive insurance was only $130 for 6 months! Smog and emissions exempt in CA and all other states. If the car sells for buy it now price or within a hundred dollar, I will include a new in box 16 amp rapid car battery charger ($100 value).
