Vehicle Detail
You are looking at an original Sacramento vehicle that has had only three owners. It was purchased in 1972 at Ed Jaksich BMW, and the original plate frame and license plate is still on the car. The last owner of the car purchased it from the second owner in June of 2010, the second owner had owned it since 1976. The first owner bought the car new and lived in Sacramento as well. It was parked in a garage under a car cover since 1985 and driven only a few times a year, the records reflect that the fluids and appropriate maintenance was kept current on an annual basis. This car has the original dealer installed Frigiking air conditioning system that has been fully serviced and is 100% operational with cold, cold output! We have both sets of original keys and all original books as well as Clymer repair manual. The original dashboard only has one small crack at the bottom of the gauge binnacle (see photos). As far as we can tell, this vehicle is free from any sort of typical rust issues 02’s can have and can’t find any significant issues of rust or rot anywhere on the car. We recently took the car to the local BMW dealership and they said this is the nicest 2002 they have seen in 20 years. Everything on this car is original except for the paint, the original green was redone in 1979 by Walt Stickels paint and body here in Sacramento and was done to better than original finish that has survived remarkably well for the last 32 years. When they did it, it was a full glass out repaint with all the parts removed and reinstalled with new rubber and gaskets. We have this receipt, as well as a thick stack of receipts dating back to 1976 that can be emailed. We have the original steering wheel as well as authentic BBS wheels (with original sticker, book and receipt), and bumper overiders that will come with the car. The original wheels have recently been refinished and the original hubcaps polished. Since June there has been $5,650 spent on sorting out every last issue, mostly at Frank’s Automotive and Polar Bear Auto Air, the list is as follows: -New Battery -Oil change; flush cooling, transmission, & differential fluids -Replaced air & fuel filters -Replaced all brake hoses; replaced rear wheel brake cylinders; replaced clutch slave cylinder; bleed brakes and clutch; replaced front brake pads -Replaced transmission mounts -Replaced hazard light switch -Replaced dome light -Replace hand brake cable -5 brand new tires -Radiator recored; fan blade replaced with larger fan; auxiliary fan installed; new thermostat -Floor mats; window sun shade purchased new -Washer fluid hoses -New starter -New voltage regulator -New headlights -Alarm system -Discreet (under front seat) upgraded stereo with iPod connection -All new v belts AC recharged & drier replaced (original Frigiking AC installed at the dealership now blows cold!). Once you see this vehicle, you will be amazed: no dents, super reflective paint, never in an accident, no rust, everything works. We could not believe the amazing condition of the interior when we first saw it. This car has current California registration through October, 2012. This is an excellent, well sorted vehicle and would be a great car for a collection or as a daily driver classic. You can purchase this vehicle knowing that it needs nothing and it just might be one of the nicest driver 2002’s on the planet. On Jan-29-11 at 12:29:46 PST, seller added the following information: I just recieved a good question from a prospective bidder. The question was if we have performed a compression leak down test on the engine, and the answer is that we have not. It has been our experience that this type of test and its results should be left between the shop doing the test and the purchaser of the vehicle as the objectiveness of this matter is important to the buyer. We are 100% willing to let the winner of the auction perform this test and have a pre purchase inspection done at your expense (at a local shop), and if the results are not satisfactory, we will unwind the deal. I hope this portrays the confidence we have in this car, and please, if you have any other questions call us as emails won't be answered as quickly as we head towards the end of the auction. Thanks again! 916-455-4556.
