Vehicle Detail
Up for bids is my 1999 Chevrolet S-10 LS Extra Cab Pickup that has spent most of the last few years as a farm truck. I bought it from my dad about a year ago and he bought it in 2007 I believe. He only put 2000 miles on it in the time that he had it. It is not a ZR-2 as the side sticker indicates. I got them from e-Bay to break up all the white. If you want a 4X 4 for the winter for a decent price, this is the one for you! First, the engine and mechanicals. It has a 4.3 V-6 with automatic transmission that runs very strong and uses no oil. It has four wheel disc brakes with ABS. The truck has lots of new parts. New fuel pump, new alternator, new battery, new intake gasket, new crank sensor, new spark plugs and wires, about 10,000 miles on new front brakes, new wheel bearings on one side in front (I don't know which one, my mechanic never told me), the brake shoes were replaced on the back about 5,000 miles ago, but since then, the rearend went out and was replaced with a rearend from a 2004 Blazer with 47,000 miles so the brakes on it were as good or better than what came off. It is in need of an alignment and replacement of the pitman and idler arm. Good news is, I have the parts, but you have to get them installed or install them yourself. I also have replacement cables for the tailgate but again, you will have to put them on. The engine has one issue and that issue has the check engine light on. The code reveals that it is random multiple misfires and I don't know what is causing them. It never misses under acceleration or while idling, but under light acceleration and when coasting in cruise, you can feel the hesitation of the engine. I believe it to be a vacuum leak somewhere, but I am not sure. The miss is more annoying than dangerous as it has never failed under acceleration. This truck has plenty of power as it will smoke the tires easily if you want it to. We pulled a full size trailer and a 2002 Grand Prix approximately 300 miles through the mountains of West Virginia and Kentucky and it gave us no issues at all and pulled like a trooper. The tires are decent, and have about 20,000 miles left in them. They go well in the mud and snow, water is okay, but in 2WD on pavement, the truck's power won't let it get much traction when taking off from a stop. As for the body, the truck is in pretty good shape with normal dents for a farm truck, with the exception of some paint issues. Most of the paint is shiny and overall, the truck still looks good from about 10 or 15 feet. The person that painted it prior to my father buying the truck a few years ago didn't take the due diligence to sand the prior surface very well and it is flaking off in places. That is why there is only one ZR-2 sticker on it. The other one came off in a car wash because the paint underneath wasn't sanded properly. It has some rust spots about the size of a pencil eraser on the lower cab corner on the passenger side. I have included a picture of the door latch on the third door. This is an issue that these break right and left. This will not happen anymore with this latch as I purchased an aluminum handle that replaced the troublesome plastic handle from the factory. The interior is in pretty good shape, it just needs to be cleaned up. Like the parts listed above, you have to do that yourself too. The drivers side seat has a repaired spot where it looks like there has been a cigarette burn. That same seat has a broken reclining seat lever as well. It still reclines, you just have to use your imagination to get something to make it go up and down. I used the tire tool for a while, but finally just found a happy medium to where the back was. The rocker panel and third door has some chipped paint as well due to me getting my wheelchair in and out, which brings me to the hand controls. No, they are not included in the auction and will be removed before the winning bidder takes possession. The radio and cassette player work fine and the sound system actually sounds pretty good. I replaced the factory door speaker as they didn't work with some Sony speakers and they sound decent for what they are. The Tow bar does not go with the truck. I have listed all the problems that I know of that exist with the truck. I have it priced under book value due to the issues listed, but it is worth what I am asking. It runs well despite the miss and drives fine. I am only selling it because it is harder to get in and out of with my wheelchair and as such, I bought another vehicle that I can get in and out of easier. I will not arrange shipment for this item. If the winning bidder would like it shipped, they must arrange all shipping. I will assist the shipper any way I can, but I will not be responsible for shipping arrangements. There will be a $500 deposit due at the end of the auction. This payment can be made via PayPal. The remainder will be due upon pickup of vehicle and must be cash or cashiers check. I will not accept personal checks. You are bidding to buy not look at my vehicle. I have listed all the mechanical issues to the best of my knowledge and I have this vehicle listed far below the retail price of other S-10's of this year model. Good luck and happy bidding!
