THIS IS THE ONE YOU'LL WANT TO KEEP FOREVER!When the BMW Z4 (code named "E85") appeared in 2003, it created quite a stir. The design--the first of (then) head BMW designer Chris Bangle's "Flame Surfacing" themes-- was provocative to be sure. (In charge of the Z4 project was Danish designer Anders Warming.) A combination of dramatic concave and convex surfaces with unusual reversed cutlines, (which create the illusion of a giant "Z" from the side view) combined with the classic "long hood, short rear deck" proportions of a proper roadster, it definitely turned heads. People either loved it or hated it; which is exactly what BMW wanted. The automotive press were somewhat mixed in their opinions on the shape, save for Automobile Magazine, which courageously gave it the "Design of The Year" award. Most writers, however, were not mixed about its driving attributes. They found the new Z4 to be a substantial improvement in performance, handling, and yes, comfort, over the outgoing Z3. Whereas the Z3 was quickly knocked together from off-the-shelf parts and an outdated rear suspension, the Z4 was new from the ground up. And while it wasn't intended to be an all-out sportscar--perhaps more of a "sport touring" convertible--its handling and performance are still considerable. We think the BMW Z4's design has aged quite well...it still looks handsome and modern. Because so many cars have since imitated Chris Bangle's controversial design strategy for BMW, the Z4 seems somehow less radical, perhaps more mainstream and familiar in its appearance now than it was 8 years ago. This is one face that has improved with age!The 2003 BMW Z4 2.5i you see here is a local, Texas Hill Country car, with a very youthful 38,000 miles--less than 4,000 miles per year since new! With one-owner pride of ownership that shows, the overall condition of this car suggests it was garaged and pampered. The 2.5L version of BMW's famed M54 inline 6 engine is quiet and smooth, delivering 184 hp through the short shifting 5 speed manual transmission. These engines are known to run well past 250,000 miles with proper care. Finished in glistening Jet Black with a black leatherette interior in beautiful condition. It has an easy-opening black cloth manual top in near new condition, as is the rear glass window with electric defroster. From the minute you sit in the cockpit, you'll be impressed. The dash features a broad expanse of silver trim that looks tasteful and high-tech. The controls for HVAC and the Audio system are beautifully simple and easy to operate, and they add to the "fine furniture" design look of the dash that was BMW's signature at the time. The black interior has a very light patina of use, but NOT abuse, and is extremely clean, along with spotless black carpeting and matching carpeted floormats in unbelievable shape. This 2003 BMW Z4 is a pleasure to drive. It's smooth, powerful, and tight as a drum; it drives exactly as a BMW should. It has nearly new Bridgestone Turanza run-flat tires in perfect condition...this Z4 needs nothing but a good new home. Oh, by the way, it's about fully depreciated so just put it in your garage, take good care of it, and it will pay you back with miles of smiles and retain most every penny you pay. To prevent top damage from fluids leaking from other vehicles, convertibles should only be shipped on open carriers if a top row space can be reserved (often at extra cost.) Enclosed carriers offer protection from weather elements or road debris damage; eliminating the exposure of your vehicle during transit. Also, NO additional mileage is placed on your vehicle. While this is a clear advantage, the disadvantage of enclosed carrier transport is greater cost. However, for high-value, rare, or exotic vehicles, (especially convertibles,) we highly recommend this type of transport. Plus, your vehicle will generally arrive in the same highly detailed exterior condition as when it left our facility. It's important to note that many "shipping" companies are simply brokers and do not actually own their own carriers. These brokers charge a fee, often called a "deposit", to book your transport, and you will be required to pay for the actual shipping cost with a cashier's check at the time of your vehicle's delivery. When accepting a very low bid (one that is well below others), make sure you understand ALL costs and terms, and get a timetable for delivery first! Ask the carrier if the bid is binding. Often, drivers will give preference to higher cost deliveries once their carriers fill up, and you may find that your pick up and delivery is delayed by a substantial amount of time.
