Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a beautiful, rust free, Midnight Blue 1990 420SEL V8. This series S-class is known as Mercedes-Benz's "W126" line. The W126 S-Class was the most successful production S-Class in history and has secured a place as one of the most well-remembered luxury vehicles in the world. At the time, the W126 was awarded by the U.S. Highway Loss Data Institute as the "The Safest Passenger Car of the Year" for two years running. From 1987-1990, Mercedes-Benz received the highest customer ratings in the J.D. Power Sales Satisfaction Index, with the S-Class leading its sales. Its twelve-year production run was longer than any S-Class before or since and many W126s have been prominently featured in films long after production ended. The old addage "they don't make them like they used to" rings especially true here. It is finished in the classic color, Midnight Blue, with a very clean ash gray leather interior. It has dual airbags, anti-lock brakes, power windows, locks and sunroof. It is an excellent city car but absolutely shines on the highway. Incidentally, at 75-85MPH I typically get around 21-22MPG, which is better than I had originally expected. Since I purchased it, I have spent over $5,000 on repairs and updates to get it where it needed to be (many receipts are shown in the photos). These include, but are not limited to: New tiresNew brakesNew timing chain New fuel injectorsNew sunroof sliding/tilting brackets New cruise control amplifierNew Becker MP3 adapter, installed at factory, on original-style radioI bought this particular car in February of 2008 from a dealer in Naples, Florida to keep as an extra vehicle. Why am I selling? Our family has grown since I bought it with the addition of two children. I do not want a car of this caliber to be subjected to stray Cheerios or gummy bears, so we are getting a M-B station wagon. While it is being sold as-is with no guarantees, nearly every deferred maintenance item that one would expect to spend on a car of this age has been dealt with. You will be able to find a cheaper W126 S-class, but not one that is as "turn-key" as this one. Please e-mail with reasonable questions.
