Vehicle Detail
1975 California Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible 24,761 mileage First before we go any further any inflating of bids for the purpose of bringing the prices of your own item up or bidding wildly and then wanting to cancel your bids will not be tolerated and bids can be canceled and further action will be taken. This practice hurts the ebay community . So please when bidding do not assume anything and when in doubt email, call or come view in person. I have flawless feedback and I do not sell baseball cards or chewing gum .If you take the time you will see that I sell beetle convertibles and I always go the extra mile. If that means changing a convertible top from white to black doing a complete diagnostic test on the car or helping with a shipping . My feedback speaks for itself .Please read ad in its entirety. I was told there was over $24,000.00 invested 7 years ago having the car restored with a year long restoration and then was only driven for a short time .There are some light scratches in front fenders and a small ding in passenger front fender the size of end of a pencil which I will video tape and picture . The car has a two tone Pearl on the front hood and in different lights it picks up pinks and in other lights it shows greens and is beautiful. The entire car is painted "Pearl" and the pictures don't seem to pick up the pinks and greens are are more dramatic in person. The car is not white like it appears in the pictures. I have tried several different angles and in a couple of the pictures you can notice the pearl but you really have to look.In person it is obvious and is absolutely stunning .There are many like new parts such as the windshield ,trim, bumpers front and back ,door panels, sun visors, seat covers, carpet ,gravel guards , running boards ,bumper impact strips , bumper end caps, chrome turn signal bezels , door handles , door handle trim, window scrapers, hinge covers , rubber window scrapers chrome "outside" safety brake boot , convertible rubber weather stripping , beetle center caps ,new brakes front to back ,new clutch all fuel injection checked by an ASE Certified Mechanic and smogged by California high standards. The only thing I have done to the car is I replaced the convertible top ,headliner and padding . It was not in bad shape but I wanted a fresh look. The underside of the car is very clean and nicely detailed. I will be adding more pictures of the underside and it looks like near show quality from the underside. The car was driven and as I said there is minor wear on the paint but all of the new items are in pristine condition. Although a lot has been invested , you need to understand that the car was driven for almost 2 years and there is normal wear and tear that you would find. If you need anymore clarification on paint quality you can call me or come in person. I bought this car in Beverly Hills, California and to give you an idea of what the previous owner thought of the car , it was parked between a Bentley and a 1968 Mustang fastback in his private collection. This car was originally restored for his wife and only driven occasionally. I was asked to not divulge the owners name or place of residence as he is well known. If you're from the Hollywood area you may remember this car jotting down Rodeo Drive . I do not know anymore then what I was told and the car had not been driven on the road in 5 years and the house manager implied this car had been meticulously restored and should be no mechanical issues. I have seriously thought of just keeping this one for myself as you just never find them in this good of condition for a reasonable price. If I were to start over and build this to the same standards I would have at least what they spent in it, if not more and we're not talking the car itself. Just the work and labor to get it into this condition. I know it is tempting to buy the cheap $4,000 to $5,0000.00 beetles but you have to ask yourself, why is one guy asking $4,000 and the same beetle someone is asking $12,000.00 . That is easy when you dig into these cars it is the little stuff that adds up and it is the labor and attention to detail .For example you can buy the cheaper front window seals or like this one has the correct 2 piece window seal others do not replace the outer chrome window scrapers and I know why because they are around $70.00 a piece or $280.00 a set and stuff like this adds up. Also there is new hinge covers that go behind the back seat and cover up the convertible top mechanism , most leave this out of the restoration as they are around $200.00 alone and this car has new ones in pristine condition. The water bottle for the windshield washer fluid most are missing or the line that goes to the tire that runs the bottle is missing and not on this one, everything is there . Before I forget , another extremely high point to this car , the wood grain and the dash are near flawless and shows it was a low mileage car, for the California heat these dashes are normally all cracked or dull and this one only has a very small crack and the color is beautiful with no heat damage and almost impossible to find in this condition. I normally sell good solid reasonable cars that are more towards the daily drivers . This car is no where near the other beetles I have sold . In football terms ,it would be like Notre Dame playing Toledo. All above information is my opinions and taken from information I received. I also did my own checks of the motor ,brakes etc and everything was exactly as stated and works as it should. If the car doesn't meet reserve it will be offered at the Palm Spring Classic Auto Auction the end of February .I am offering this at a fair price and the starting bid and reserve price do not reflect the actual price. That will be determined by you the buyers and not me and final bid. I have a clear California title in hand in my name and the car is tagged and registered and we are driving it daily until end of auction. If you want to come view the car in person or send an independent inspector out prior to the end of auction please feel free to email me or call me at (805)423-4559. The car is located in Paso Robles, Ca 93446 in the beautiful wine country appointments to view will be taken after the 5th of Jan 2011. Terms: No Deposit but phone call immediately at the end of auction as that is your deposit and your word is your guarantee to purchase the vehicle. On Jan-04-11 at 16:48:56 PST, seller added the following information: Hello again, I tried several attempts to get better pictures showing the actual color . The last 4 pictures minus the picture of the Beverly Hills car cover are the actual color . You can see clearly in the back quarter the pinks and greens and this car is drop dead gorgeous if you're into "PEARLS" . I hope this helps and I am still getting loading pictures and video of the under body and motor. Also I forgot to mention this does have it's original fuel injected 1600 CC motor . Nothing has been changed as far as the powertrain. In other words it is the way it came out of the factory in 1975.
