Vehicle Detail

I bought this 300 Series with the intention of converting it to WVO, but I job switch and a move to NY has prevented me from doing the work that needs to be done. However, even without the conversion, it gets nearly 30mpg! It cranks right up, even in cold weather, with the help of the glow plugs, of course. And the engine runs well, especially once you warm it up. The real difficulty, and the reason that my reserve is so low, is that the transmission is on it's last leg. The person I bought it from (via Ebay) was selling it for a friends and I think the friend neglected to make him away of this difficulty, so I'm listing it right out front. The Transmission needs to be rebuilt or replaced. It will go into gear with some coaxing, and it will shift through with some coaxing, but the thing nearly shot. The interior is good--there's a hole in the driver's seat and a spring will grab you, but put a pillow down and it's fine. The driver's side windows and the sunroof both work, but the passenger's side windows do not--probably a relay switch. The radio (original) and the air/heat work. Both the Speedometer and the tachometer work sporatically--attributed to the transmission, I suspect. It's 27 years old and has been used, so for that age, it looks good. The exterior paint is rough--the clear coat is worn out, though you could probably drive it for twenty years the way it is. There is a dent on the top of each front fender where some moron tried to open the hood with a screwdriver because the hood release is busted (separated from the latch on the passenger's side). However, there's plenty of room for a WVO tank in the trunk! Again, this car is not for someone who wants an immediate daily driver, but with a little work, it could save you a bunch of cash and make you feel great about your reduced carbon footprint.
