Vehicle Detail
Offered is a 1962 Chrysler Newport. It is a head turner that is fun to cruise around in on the weekends. I get plenty of "thumbs up" and compliments wherever I go. It has a 383, 8 cylinder engine, automatic transmission, power steering, and air conditioning. The transmission is the push button type. The a/c blows cold, but has a slight hose leak and must be recharged with 134 refrigerant a couple of times over the summer. The exterior is solid with no significant issues. It is old and has its share of blemishes, scratches, and scuffs, but shines up nicely and displays well...a classic "20 footer. The interior looks good. The carpet and headliner are new, but everything else is original. The dash has some cracks, but still looks good. Some of the interior chrome is in excellent condition and some is pitted and could use a re-chroming. The upholstery where the driver sits is worn, but not ripped or torn. The vinyl there has a couple of small tears where your lower back rest, but nothing overly notable or detracting. The vinyl strip across the top of the rear seat has five small surface cracks down to the fabric backing, but doesn't appear to be split all the way through. The rest of the upholstery is in excellent condition. The glass is in very good condition and the door panels are solid. The engine compartment is in excellent condition and is near show quality. The engine was rebuilt to proper specifications and has had less than 1200 miles put on it since. The trunk is in excellent condition, as well, and also looks near show quality. A set of Coker Classic tires with just over 1000 miles on them comes with the car and gives it a classy look! It runs fine and drives fine, but is an old, used car and not perfect. Please ask questions. I will answer as thoroughly as I can. My cell phone number is 903-814-6407. Feel free to call. The winning bidder is to pay a $300 non-refundable deposit to my PayPal account within 48 hours after the end of the auction. The balance is to be paid within one week by bank wire, cashier's check, or cash. Due to past problems, if you have less than 10 feedback email me before bidding or I may cancel your bid. Thank you and good luck! On Dec-30-10 at 20:26:16 PST, seller added the following information: I've taken pictures underneath the car. Send me your email address and I'll send them to you. It is very clean. Thanks. On Jan-01-11 at 13:58:36 PST, seller added the following information: It was brought to my attention that the 361 engine came in 1962 Newports, not the 383, which came with the Chrysler 300 series. On Jan-01-11 at 19:31:17 PST, seller added the following information: It has now been brought to my attention that the 383 was available as an option in the 1962 Newport. I was told it was the 383 when I purchased the car originally, so that may very well may be the case after all.
