Vehicle Detail

1980 BMW 735i Touring with 9,042 miles today. This is a Euro model and EBay does not like the VIN which is WBA68410007432544 It was built in June 1980 and is titled as a 1981. This is a beautiful rare car and I have the title in hand. Per the site stationwagon.com http://www.stationwagon.com/gallery/198x_BMW_735i.html "this car was built on the BMW production line for display at the Frankfurt Auto Show. There were only two cars made like this. It was built on the 735i chassis - and is a European model. This was never a production car. Details include - - 8,179 original miles, tan cloth interior, a manual sunroof and windows, roof rack, alloy wheels & automatic transmission. The car was imported to the US and brought up to DOT and EPA standards in Ohio." This car was purchased on EBay in 2000 with 8,179 miles and was amongst a collection of approximately 100 cars owned by a noted collector in New Hampshire. It was then purchased in 8/2003 with 8,300 miles from the collector’s estate sale until it was purchased by me in November 2010 with 9,002 miles and it was not running. I had service performed on the car, tuned it up, new battery, plugs etc...replaced mechanical and safety items and brought the car back onto the road. It runs and drives great. It is currently inspected and on the road with a Massachusetts December 2010 inspection sticker. I would have no hesitation using this car as an everyday vehicle. See the two videos on youtube to see the engine running and how great the car drives now. This will be a hit at any car show. The first time I had it on the road and pulled in for gas, three people came over to me to talk about it. It would make a great collector car or track support car for your BMW racing team or unique service vehicle for your BMW service. This car should only appreciate in value. They only made two. While currencies depreceate, this won't if cared for and you will have a great time owning it. I have posted 85 detailed photos of almost every inch of the car at www.flutzoo.com Youtube videos at the site and below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQNJ0LFLoNw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_fh1MKLX8U The negatives to the car are: 6 spots where the paint has lifted and there is surface rust underneath. You can see these areas in photos 11,17,34-37, 57, 55 and 69. Also the straight pipe in the exhaust is rusty. It was able to pass inspection but I don’t know how many more years it has left. That can be seen in photo 82. There is a small rip in the center armrest in the rear seat. That can be seen on photo 60. I have tried to clean up the interior but it hasn’t been warm enough since I purchased the car to do an outstanding job. No warrantee or guarantee is provided on the car which was built over 30 years ago in June 1980. I will happily allow inspection if we can coordinate times. I will work with your shipper should you wish to have the car picked up. $1,000 deposit by Paypal within 48 hours of auction close. The remainder can be paid by wire transfer, cash or check. If payment is made by check of any form then no pickup will be allowed until the check clears. On Dec-27-10 at 10:48:45 PST, seller added the following information: Correction: It is currently inspected and on the road with a Massachusetts December 2011 inspection sticker not 2010. It just passed its inspection this month. See just how collectable this car is. This is by far and away the highest watched BMW car on all of EBay with more watchers than any other BMW and with 7 days to go will likely end up as the highest watched car on all of EBay. www.watchcount.com On Dec-29-10 at 22:52:25 PST, seller added the following information: Hello Everyone. Well right now this is the 3rd most watched car on EBay per countwatch.com out of 47,000 or so cars. It will probably get to number 2 but probably won’t beat that tricked out Impala for the number 1 spot. A few things. Someone who knew the owner prior to 2002 contacted me and told me that this fellow had this car in his collection from the mid 80s when it was imported to the US through Hardy & Deck Performance Inc. This makes sense to me as I have another car that came from him and that one didn’t come with a title like this one, but had a couple registrations under his name dating back from 1985 - 1999. This fellow died around 1999 – March 2000 and the 735i Touring was put on EBay in November 2000 where stationwagon.com saw it. It was not sold then but years later by private sale after probate allowed it. This is the best I can put together on it on it now. The estate was very large so it took quite a while to go through probate it seems. The fellow who owned it had a big auto collection including a BMW M1, a 55 Mercedes SL300, a 59 Mercedes 220S convertible, Ferrari, 69 Shelby GT 500 and a few other BMWs including this. A few of his cars passed to the fellow I got it from last month. I have the probate # which went from 2000 – 2003 and the 735i Touring is listed. I have the title for the car. The only other papers I have are on the amplifier system. If you want to see the car, please contact me and I can arrange it. Everyone who has asked to view the car has been accommodated. Please don’t drive around and just show up. That has happened a couple times. If you write a question and ask to meet I won’t post your questions that include names and phone numbers on the listing for everyone to see. Someone is going to end up with a great car that draws an incredible amount of interest. I want everyone to feel comfortable with the car whether they see it or not. That is why I posted all the photos and video. If you want any other photos, let me know and I can get them for you short of getting it on a lift again. On Dec-30-10 at 17:30:23 PST, seller added the following information: Thank you MAF for pointing that the car was imported by Hardy and Beck Performance Inc. I couldn’t find the Hardy&Deck I was looking for. Well it was pretty easy to find Hardy and Beck Performance Inc. who were also known apparently known as West Coast Alpina. They are still around as H&B BMW and MiniCooper Specialists, and their site is at http://www.hbspecialists.com unfortunately per their phone message, they are closed till Monday but from what I read Mr. Hardy has been helpful to folks tracing the history of their cars which were imported in the 80s. I have been asked for some more detailed shots of the front of the spoiler where the three holes are and the wording. I have also been asked for some detailed shots of the D Pillar. It is completely straight angle and there is no angle back to the front. I just took some shots and will post them at www.flutzoo.com shortly. As for people who asked about shipping overseas. I know you can set this up easily. I am 10 miles outside of Boston. I will work with you shipper on pickup but you would have to set up shipping. On Dec-30-10 at 18:29:42 PST, seller added the following information: The new photos requested are at http://www.flutzoo.com/Requested_Photos.htmlOn Dec-30-10 at 22:09:29 PST, seller added the following information: I heard back from Mr. Hardy of Hardy and Beck and he might have additional info next week. This won’t likely be until after the auction ends though. The only information I have is the clean title, the probate info and the info which came from Stationwagon.com.
