1975 Honda CB

Ready to drive, this 1975 CB400F has a few mods from stock, but is a far-above average condition example of these fine, classic styled Honda Super Sports. Purchased from a long-time owner in AZ, the bike had the engine rebuilt with a new camchain and tensioners. Old-school touches included black painted cylinders and cylinder head and an NEP teflon rear sprocket. Engine is spotless inside, so it has obviously been completely disassembled and cleaned. The only thing that seems to have been overlooked is the clutch basket. The cush-drive rubbers have shrunken, so the gear is a little loose on the back of the clutch basket, causing a little rattling noise at idle. I am looking for a good used replacement and will change it out, if I find one prior to end of auction. Other than the noise, there are no real concerns about this parts condition. Other rebuilt items are the brake hydraulics and the fork seals. The infamous RH starter switch assembly ($100+) has been replaced. New tires are installed, with a new air filter and fresh oil change. A few parts are missing in the breather/air box, as the bike came to me with pod filters and I have been tracking down the missing items to complete the OEM air filter system. The seat cover was replaced with an aftermarket copy, but seat strap is missing. The handlebars are some kind of "Superbike" style units, which are a little higher and far more comfortable than the nearly flat OEM bars. You can see that the gas cap has not been modified to the key style, which was part of a Honda recall. The fuel tank was coated inside and the paint is all original and in great shape. No major dents or damage is evident. Carbs have been rejetted to #80, which seems to help with fueling now that we have this low-powered alcohol blended fuel to use now. Exhaust system is OEM, but was a used item sourced from EBay. Not as nice as I would like, as the header pipes have some rust and a little pitting. Muffler has some battery acid stains and a small dent. Header has some scrapes underneath. All the electric system items are fully functioning. I had to have the rectifier mount re-welded, as it has sheared off from vibration, apparently. Right side cover had a lateral crack which has been repaired with PVC cement, but needs some finish work/paint now. Tachometer needle wavers around a little on the highway. Headlight shell had a crack at the retainer tab, but I have just acquired a replacement unit for that. AZ title, but can get a fresh CA title if necessary. Can deliver to the OC/LA area for $100. On Dec-07-10 at 18:29:54 PST, seller added the following information: I added a brand new $25 16t countershaft sprocket to the front, which increases acceleration and performance, as the stock 17t sprocket is geared too high for the bike to get to redline in 6th gear.
