Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1966 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE 289 V8 This is not a “Restored “ Car. This is an original car with the original motor, transmission, and body parts. It is not a perfect, show car. I was told the car was originally built, sold and shipped to a US Military Officer in Egypt. He kept it in Egypt until he was deployed to another country and so the military stored it for him for a number of years. I am the third owner and have had it for approx. 15 years and have driven it less than 150 miles. At has 88,115 original miles on it. I don't think it has any major rust on it. I stored it in my basement garage for about 10 years and it got some surface rust on the underneath framing, so I treated it with a de-rust application and painted it. The Data plate has a DSO Code of 95 as an Egyptian export and an engine code of “3” which designates it as a special low-compression engine. ( I was told was for the Egyptian gas) ( To keep originality, the engine has never been broken open or rebuilt ) I have letters from a gentleman at Mustang magazine where they helped me go to Ford Archives to verify the DSO Code information. They said it was a rare car. They did not find any records of any other mustangs that had been built for Egyptian export. (Have no idea if this would make it any more or less valuable. ) Car has new: Fuel Pump, carb. Rebuild kit, Distributor, Plugs, Plug Wires, Coil, Exhaust Manifolds, Conv. Top Pistons, Convertible top (last week) , interior seat covers etc, carpet, door handles, Tires, Brakes, Wheel cylinders, front end bushings, shocks, painted car about 6 years ago, new bumpers, and some new chrome. Car runs great, has a 3 speed manual transmission. I just did not get finished with it, as it still needs a new exhaust system ( no leaks it just needs some glass pack mufflers for that deep down sound ) and a new steering wheel - original one shows age). Has the normal rattles and air leaks associated with a 44 year old convertible. It still needs some fine tuning but I think would make someone a real nice car. Has a low reserve ( $4,000.00) - not trying to make money just get it a good home, I just do not have time to continue with it. After 15 years, I could use the extra garage space.
