Vehicle Detail

For auction is a PHS documented 1969 Pontiac GTO. This GTO has a complete history dating back to 1978 when it was purchased from who was believed to be the original owner. The car was driven as is until 1980, when it underwent a Judge conversion. The owner came across an original 1969 Judge and swapped over the pertinent parts to turn his current GTO into a Judge. The parts recovered from the original Judge and installed on this GTO are as follows: original GM Ram Air hood with flapper assembly and hood tach, Ram Air lower air cleaner (the upper pan is missing), hideaway headlights, deck lid spoiler, trunk torsion rods, glove box door with Judge emblem. The car was then painted carousel red. Over the next eight years, the car was driven during the summer months until it was parked in storage from 1988 until now. Over the years of service, other than general maintenance, the original engine was replaced with an NOS 1968 400 2bbl manual trans engine with 15 heads, an Edelbrock P4B intake with Holley 650 double pumper carb, headers, and an HEI distributor. The rest of the car seems to be pretty much all original. While trying to repair the front seat mounting studs, (one is still broken), I came across an I.D. tag stapled to the carpet with the carpet manufacturer name, date and other miscellaneous information (I've included a picture). I planned on restoring this car and installing a 1968 manual trans 428 HO engine (see other auctions). I have lost interest and have decided to go in another direction. I will describe the current condition of this car to the best of my ability. The endura nose, along with the lower valance seem good and do not appear to have any issues . The hideaway headlights do not work, but they can be manually operated with ease. The factory Ram Air hood seems to be in very good condition, straight and solid. The original flapper assembly and scoops seem to be without issue other than normal wear. The original GM hood tach works, but the shell will require minor repairs to make it show quality. Both original GM fenders and both doors seem to be in very good condition. There are no signs of rust through or previous rust through repairs. The quarter panels are rusted through around the wheel well lip and rocker molding trim. The trunk lid appears to be from a LeMans and is rusted in the usual places. The trunk pan seems to be in very good condition, and is a sign of how well preserved this car is. There are some holes that need attention from where an electric fuel pump is mounted in the trunk. The floor boards seem solid except they are rusted out on both sides where the rear passengers feet would go. The frame seems solid and doesn't appear to have any issues along with the rest of the suspension and underneath areas including what appears to be the original driveline from the bell housing to the heavy duty 3:55 10 bolt posi differential. The interior seems to be all original and in above average condition considering its age. The dash is still soft and pliable, but does have a cut above the glove box area. The original Judge glove box door with original GM emblem appear to be in excellent condition. The rally gauges seem to work. The headliner needs to be replaced and the pieces that I would call the interior sail panels need attention. Again, the rest of the interior seems to be above average for its age, and would be easily restored. The car has 14x6 rally wheels with three of them having a KT code and one with a CU code. This car runs and drives. The engine is smooth and quiet with the exception of exhaust leaks. The brakes seem good, and the trans and rear end seem fine without any strange noises. The wiper arms are missing, along with the seat belts. This car was originally purchased from Eddie Ruch Pontiac in Wheaton, Illinois. Date of execution was 4-29-69. It was ordered Matador red with black interior and a Cordova top. This car was ordered with the following options: heavy duty Safety Trac differential, rally gauges with tach and clock, console, power disc brakes, SPG & SHKS-R/H (code 621), front and rear floor mats, ADV.ASSN.COL (code 103), 4 speed trans, push button radio, WHL DSC-DLX (code 451), power steering and Soft-Ray tinted glass. This car is being sold as-is with no warranties, written or implied, and is described to the best of my ability.
