It’s almost Christmas... Summer’s coming! 1965 Ford Thunderbird Convertible This beautiful car has original paint in a color called midnight turquoise and has a white vinyl convertible top. Excellent straight body, NO RUST ANYWHERE, no dents, underbody is in amazing condition, interior is excellent, power seat, power steering, swing away steering wheel, power brakes, progressive turn signals, A/C, am / fm radio, power windows, and has new Goodyear all season radial tires. Original convertible top works well, vinyl has no rips or tears but shows normal signs of wear. Upholstery is in excellent condition, there is one small 2-inch tear in the seam of the rear armrest that any car upholsterer can fix. Carpeting was replaced recently except in the trunk where it is releasing from the walls in places. Vehicle is in excellent mechanical condition. Engine is the Ford 390 cubic inch V-8 with dual exhaust. The carburetor is a double-barrell Holley. It had a major tune up last summer and purrs like a kitten. I did not realize I was posting all photos with the drivers side windows up. The front switch for the rear drives side window does stick sometimes and probably needs to be cleaned out if the central panel is ever off but the window works just fine. The car does not burn any oil and does not smoke at all. I change the oil every 3k and it never requires the addition of oil between changes. The care is over 40 years old though and it does leave spots in the garage. The seals around the doors and trunk could also use replacing. Rubber that reaches this age is not as springy as new. The upper limit control switch for the top was recently sent in for rebuilding as this part contained aging rubber. The top has several control switches and they should probably all be inspected. The car ariel does not retract and needs a new one. The speedometer bounces above speeds of 35 mph and although it tracks mileage properly it needs a new part for the speedometer which is about $50 (this just started). The clock in the dash does not keep good time. BUT - aesthetically and Mechanically the car is in EXCELLENT condition and as I stated before there is NO RUST. There have been no dents to the body that i can see or am aware of and i inspected the underbody of the car carefully when I received it. The are a couple of areas where I had the paint touched up for scratches but I believe the paint job to be original. There is one spot on the front bumper where the chrome has some clouding but it does not show up in the photos. This is a well maintained car in excellent condition but it has not had a major restoration (and I have not felt that it needs one) but do keep in mind this is an old car. It is in fantastic shape and it is a real pleasure to drive. This car should be garage kept at all times (when not being driven) if it is to stay in good shape.
