Vehicle Detail

FOR SALE: One very strong 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo. The car actually started out as a normal NA, but after a cracked head in mid 2006, I decided to convert it to a Twin Turbo. The TT swap was performed by Z1 Motorsports, outside Atlanta, who are experts in handling Twin Turbo conversions (their website is linked below). While the conversion was being done, I decided to make some upgrades, which are listed below, but one thing that makes this Twin Turbo faster than most modified TT’s is that it still has the original NA rear gearbox, which is much more aggressive than a stock Twin Turbo. Nissan modified the gearing for the NA’s to add more torque so they would be quicker, so keeping the original gearing, together with the other modifications makes this Twin Turbo a very strong running car. When Z1 performs the TT conversions, they guarantee JDM engines (delivered from Japan) with less than 50K miles. Feel free to check out their website to verify it. When the swap was finished, they performed a dyno on the car to verify their work and this car hit 323 RWHP with 359 ft.lbs. of torque at 14 psi with the stock injectors (print out below). Since then, I've replaced the stock 375cc injectors with Nismo 555cc injectors. There is so much torque that the car was nearly un-drivable with the original 7.5 inch wide rear tires. The car would break traction while accelerating in 3rd gear, if that’s an indication. If it were upgraded with performance side mounted intercoolers, it could easily reach 350 RWHP. Putting performance aside, what the car is in bad need of is a paint job, and I just don’t have the cash to put more into the car. I just had new synthetic leather seat covers installed. I’ve also replaced the old tweed interior cloth with the same material used on the seats, along with new carpet. The car had 228,101 miles on it when the conversion was done, and now has 274,450, so the engine is around the 85,000 mile mark. I haven’t had a single issue with the engine. It runs strong and is dependable. I wouldn’t hesitate at all to driving it across the country. The Pros: Upgrades at the time of the Twin Turbo Conversion: l New OEM Nissan wiring harness (a very important upgrade) l Competition Lightweight Flywheel (10.5 lbs.) l New timing belt, water pump, and seals l New rear main seal l Unorthodox Lightweight Crank Pulley l Z1 Motorsports Upgraded ECU to match the modifications (with Boost Jets) l Stainless Steel 2.5” Divorced Down Pipes l Z1 MotorSports Twin Turbo Street clutch l Jim Wolf Pop Charger l Labree Stainless Steel Highflow Catback l Chrome Plenum, Balance Tube and Water pipes l KYB Gas Adjustable shocks l RUFF staggered wheels (18/8.5 in front, 18/9.5 in the rear) l Slotted and Drilled rotors l JDM Front Fasia (painted with black sandable primer) l 1990 models have Skyline R32 front calipers from the factory l Autometer boost gauge Recent Upgrades: l Nismo 555cc injectors l 40K mile Twin Turbo Transmission (from Japan) just installed – filled with Redline gear oil l New Yokahama “S Drive” tires on the front (less than 500 miles) l Brand new door and quarter window moldings for both sides of the car l Brand new Cowl Panels, both driver and passenger side l Replica Twin Turbo fiberglass rear spoiler ready to mount and paint l Brand new synthetic leather seat covers with matching interior panels l New Carpet l New rear speakers (Alpine SPR – 17C 6.5”) l New Nissan OEM Shock tower assembly bushing kit and dust boots The Cons: l The car is 20 years old so some interior pieces show some age. l The hatch locking mechanism doesn’t “latch” and needs to be replaced. l The starter will “screech” every so often and doesn’t turn the engine over. The gears from the starter occasionally will not match well with the gears from the competition flywheel, so they don’t catch properly. It happens sporadically. l The front passenger Lower Control Arm has a busted bushing and needs to be replaced. The bushing can’t be bought separate, so a replacement Lower Control Arm needs to be installed. l The driver’s side door is slightly misaligned. The doors on these cars are heavy and over the years the alignment has dropped about 3/16th of an inch. It’s not a big issue, but is something that I thought should be mentioned. l There is no spare tire. l Both heat and air conditioning come through the defrost vents. I don't know why, but I'm sure its a setting in the climate connsole. Z1 Motorsports website: http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=1108&osCsid=09d364ce582b04d7d45a90c2a07507e9
