Recently traded on a new Mitsubishi, his car sat in the previous  owner’s front yard, under a tree for 3 years! It remained un-driven, but  the weather and age took its toll. As you can see… the paint is a bit  faded, a rear wiper arm has been snapped off, a hub cap was stolen and  the “custom” muffler was stolen. When we got the car, it need some work to pass Virginia’s inspection. We  replaced the missing mufflers, put two tires on it, put brake pads on it  and gave it a good clean up. The result is a car that runs GREAT! The  engine is smooth and strong with no leaks, no smoke, and no funny  noises. The transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch is still strong. The best part about the car is the interior. It has no rips, tears,  stain or burns. It appears to have been a non-smokers car and has no  funky odors. From the inside it appears to be a 69K mile car. Now,  again, it does need some minor attention. The radio is in “code” mode,  the battery died and it needs the code to work again. We kind of figured  whoever buys it will probably put a CD player in it, so we haven’t  seated it. The head liner is also starting to come loose under the  visors (see pictures). Some glue would fix that right up… but with the  temperatures being icy cold, we figured it was best put off until better  weather for the glue to set properly. This would be a great basis for a tuner car, a cool father son project  car, a good little commuter car that gets excellent gas mileage… or just  a nice little run around car for a family without a ton of money. Don’t  be distracted by the minor problems, this is still a Volkswagen and has  many, many more trouble free miles left in it!
