Vehicle Detail
Offering for sale my beautiful 1984 Honda XL350R'84 dual sport motorcycle. I am the third owner of the bike and it is in fantastic condition for a 26 year-old bike, (or a bike of any age for that matter.) At just 2354 miles it operates with that "just broken in" feeling and it's looks reflect the low miles on the clock moreso than the years that have passed since it left Japan. It is still on it's original YOKOHAMA tires which have been retained in order to validate the low mileage, (and in case it should go to a purchaser or collection where originality is more important than functionality.) Should the purchaser of this bike wish it I can install new tires of their choice along with tubes and rim bands for the cost of materials. The bike has undergone a full service within the last 100 miles. It's valves were spec'd, oil and filter changed and a new air filter installed, (replacing the original.) All other systems were inspected and serviced at that time as well with no anomalies found; brakes, cables, chain & sprockets, steering head bearings, swingarm bushings were all in great shape commensurate with the low mileage. All electrical systems function properly. The bike starts very easily hot or cold, (kick start only) with it's automatic decompression system and handlebar mounted choke lever. Once warmed to operating temperature it idles smoothly and quietly and pulls strong through all of it's 6 gears aided in no small part by it's progressive dual-carburetor system. It cruises easily at 60 mph with plenty of acceleration still on tap and the extra cog in the gearbox allows for a low 1st gear for slow sections offroad. The ride is very plush between it's long travel suspension and thickly padded seat. Cosmetically the bike is very close to perfect with the exception of some boot wear to the frame and clutch cover paint, some rock chips on the frame down tube, some nicks in the black number plate side covers and a small dent on the lower right rear corner of the fuel tank, (which I was told by a former owner was the result of a tipover while being transported in the back of a pickup truck.) The bike retains it's complete original toolkit and Owner's Manual and will be sold with a Honda Factory Service Manual as well. The bulk of the attached photos of the bike were shot last September 4th when the weather here in Seattle was much more amenable to riding, (and photographing) motorcycles. There are two shots of the bike's speedometer attached, the one dated 09/04/2010 shows the mileage on the bike on that date and the one dated 11/25/2010 shot today, Thanksgiving day 2010, represents the current mileage on the bike. The bike is used and as such is offered with no warranty expressed or implied. I can assist with recommendations for low-cost, door-to-door shipping; the cost of said shipping is entirely the responsibility of the purchaser. Please feel free to email me with any questions. A $200 deposit is due via Paypal within 24 hours of auction's end, the balance to be paid by means acceptable to the buyer and seller within eBay's guidelines. Thank you for viewing my auction; Happy Holidays!
