Up for bid is my 1962 Buick Skylark convertible. I need to sell this car to make room for my new car, a 1964 Dodge Polara.This is a very rare model of car. In 3 years of cruising the Chicago area, I have not seen another 1962, let alone a convertible of which very few were made. I bought this car 3 years ago from Arizona but it had spent almost it's entire life in California. When I bought it, the NADA value for an original car like this was $23,000. The mileage is original, I only put 1,400 miles on it by cruising and car shows. The car won trophies at every car show that it was entered into. It is a very "eye catching" car and draws alot of attention. It has a 215 cu. in. V-8 with 4 barrel carb.It has PS, PB and optional power windows. All exterior and interior lights in good working cond. Seats, door panels and carpet in excellent cond. Dash has a custom made cover that goes over the original cracked dash. Dash gas gauge was just replaced. Wipers have never worked but I never take the car out in the rain. Garage kept every day. Heater and blower work very good but a slight leak just started in the heater control valve on the firewall. If you are in a warm climate you might want to bypass the heater as so many people do. If you want to keep the heater system functional, I located someone who has a brand new valve and I will buy it for you and send it to your address. The original Buick radio works fine. The car is fire engine red in color with a quality repaint done some years ago. Paint is problem free with a few properly touched up paint chips. Body is rust free and original with no bondo. All chrome and trim are in excellent cond. Top and rear window are quite new and the power unit for the top was replaced just before I bought the car. The engine is is in very good running cond. A short warm up helps it to run smooth due to the mechical choke. The engine was rebuilt out in California at 84,000 miles. Only 9,000 miles put on the car since rebuild. No engine smoke at all and runs nice on 87 octane regular. Brakes in very good cond. and transmission shifts very smoothly. The trans has had a slight leak in it since I got the car. Never enough to have repairs done. It seems to be coming from where the speedometer cable goes into the side of the trans. I had to add about one pint of fluid this past crusing season. I keep a towel on the floor so that there is no mess with it. It has been no problem at all to me. All in all, this is a beautiful, original classic that is rarely seem even at car shows and this car really gets the "looks". From the ground up this car is nearly mint and only needs a little attention in the areas that I have mentioned. I am being very honest with you which is more than some sellers do. Remainder of winning price is due 7 days after auction close. If you are coming to pick the car up within a week, then we can complete the money part of the deal then. Cash or bank cashiers check is required. If you are having the car shipped to you, then a bank cashiers check sent express would do nicely.
