Vehicle Detail
Condition: Fair – Car has mechanical and cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is in running condition and was being driven every day up until about a month ago. Car is being relisted due to no contact/no payment from previous auction winner. Please come get the car if you win it. =) Car is located in Palos Heights, IL. - About 30 mins southwest of downtown Chicago. No shipping - pickup only. In some photos (example: photo of roof) the camera flash makes the paint seem discolored/orange. This is strictly from the flash only. Kelly Blue Book Value : $700.00 Here is what does not work or is suffering from severe mechanical or cosmetic defect: -Power door locks do not work. -CD player does not work well and severely scratches CDs. -Dashboard held down by Velcro (see photos of dash). -Rust on the quarter panels (see pictures). -Radiator has a slow drip. -Top of the motor leaks oil (bad fit between the camshaft housing and the engine block causes a slow leak. I’ve never had to add oil between oil changes. It has been like this since I got it in 2002). -Air conditioning does not work (never has) and the air compressor squeals at times when the car is running. -Various electrical problems which occur randomly (Turn the key, lights on the dash and shifter will keep flashing rapidly in unison. Wait a few minutes, turn the key again and the car starts with no problem). -Front speakers are blown. -Steering wheel is stiff while turning at low speeds. I believe the power steering pump is starting to fail though it does not leak, squeal or chatter (the other symptoms of a failing pump). -Brake lines should be inspected and changed. -Gas door doesn't lock shut (needs a new cable) -Front air dam is missing (was not present when I purchased the vehicle). Here is what has been done recently: -Front brakes (pads and rotors) were changed February 2010. -Passenger side caliper was changed June 2010. -New muffler installed on 6/29/2009. -New starter installed 2/26/2009 -Transmission rebuilt around 111,000 miles (no receipt). Here are the most salvageable/best parts of the car. Many parts of the interior are in good condition and can be swapped into another vehicle (also see photos): -Passenger side door is in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition. -Hood is in good cosmetic and mechanical condition. -Trunk is in good cosmetic and mechanical condition though aftermarket spoiler needs to be repainted. -Front driver seat is in above average condition. -Passenger seat is in good condition. -Back seat (bench seat) is in very good condition. -Center console is in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition. -Tires are in good condition with plenty of tread. -All windows are in good condition. -Interior door panels are in good cosmetic condition. Features: -Bucket seats -Fog lights (one needs to be replaced) -Driver side airbag -Power steering -Center console -Power brakes -CD player -Rear Spoiler -4-wheel abs -Automatic transmission I purchased the car on March 13, 2002 with 111,000 miles on it and in poor running condition. The top of the motor was rebuilt (timing chain, timing chain tensioner, water pump, and all gaskets replaced) and then the transmission was rebuilt a short time later. I was driving it every day up until 9/31/2010 when I purchased a newer vehicle. Check the description and pictures for the condition of the exterior and interior. The car can be driven though the steering is tight and if the pump fails the steering will be manual which means the car can still be steered but will require a good bit of physical strength. I would advise bringing a trailer and hauling it away (if you are in the area a tow service would probably do this at a reasonable price). If you have a 1992 – 1995 Achieva, Calais, Grand Am, Skylark or Somerset (GM N platform also called N-body) there might be some nice parts on this car to repair your vehicle! Car is being sold AS-IS.
