Vehicle Detail
1997 Ford Crown Victoria. 153,500 Miles. For sale is my 1997 Ford Crown Victoria. The vehicle has 153,500 Miles. This car has had one owner in its life (myself). The vehicle is in good condition (for 153,500 miles) and runs good (no issues). I’ve noticed a lot of comparable Ford Crown Victorias on Ebay are older, stripped police cars. This is not one of those. I am a private seller and not a used car dealer or a municipality selling an old fleet of police vehicles. I’m selling my car after all these years because I really need a truck (just purchased one actually) and no longer need my Crown Victoria. My wife and I have used this car over the past 13 years for work, commuting, errands, vacations, chauffeuring kids, etc. It has been your standard family car. The last couple years it has been primarily used by myself for daily commuting to work (my wife now drives a Mini Van which is now our primary car). I’m a non smoker. The vehicle has a clean title. The exterior color of the vehicle I believe is technically a deep forest green (looks like a deep green / blue color – very nice). Interior color is Gray. As I mentioned, the condition of the vehicle is in good shape for 153,500 miles and runs good (the engine is in good shape and has no issues). Since I’ve personally owned the vehicle over the past 13 years, here’s some more info regarding the history and condition of vehicle (which you won’t necessarily see in other Crown Vic listings of this age). The engine is the original engine and runs fine (8 Cylinder). I’ve had no major issues with it over the years. It does not leak any fluids, the engine does not make any funny noises and again runs fine. The last problem I had with the car was a couple years ago in 2008 when the “check engine” light came on. I took it to a shop and it was due to a couple dirty catalytic converters. Had both catalytic converters replaced (yes there are apparently two of them) as well as had a full tune up (new wires, spark plugs, etc..). The service for all this wasn’t cheap, however I’ve had no problems since. The two back windows no longer roll down. They broke several years ago after my wife tried to install those baby shades in the back seats. After installation, when she tried to roll up the windows all the way I think something caught and snapped inside the door. The motor inside the door works fine the windows just don’t roll up and down (although you can do it by hand). I think the wire inside snapped or something came loose. May be an easy fix if you know how to do it. The front two windows work fine. The car beeps when the driver side front door is opened (like you left you keys in and the lights on). Beeping turns off when the door is closed and it’s only the driver side door which does it (none of the other doors). I asked a Ford Dealer about this a few years ago and he said it was probably something electrical. They would need to hook up to a computer to help determine what the issue was. It would have cost some $$ to hook up for diagnosis they some more $$ to fix so I told him not to worry about it. Figured it wasn’t worth spending the money. It doesn’t bother me that it beeps a little when the door is opened. I just put studded tires on the rear two wheels in preparation for winter. The Crown Vic is rear wheel drive and the studded tires help out in the Colorado winters. The tread on the two front tires is getting pretty low. They are fine for now and will do but you will probably want to put on new tires in the not too distance future – so I’d budget for 2 new tires. The rear tires (the studded tires) are in very good shape and like new. They have lots of tread left and will last a while. Other items / comments to finish up …. Vehicle has all original factory installed equipment (nothing has been stripped) which includes cruise control, radio, cassette player, air conditioning, automatic transmission, power windows, power steering, dual airbags, etc.. Everything works – heat, AC, internal lights, headlights, blinkers, wipers, radio, etc. New brakes / rotors in 2007. No water damage – has not been in a flood. Does not leak any fluids. Again runs fine. Does not have any odd smells (pets, smoke, other). No rips / tears in the inside upholstery (inside is in good shape). All windows are in good shape – no cracks (the back two don’t roll down as noted above). I would recommend new windshield wipers – the existing ones don’t seem to do very well. The exterior is in good shape for 153,500 miles. It does have some marks / scratches / scuffs as to be expected but no major body damage. I took some close-up photos of some of the scuffs so you can see. Bottom line, I’ve had this vehicle for 13 years and 153,500 miles. It still runs fine, I’ve had no major problems with it, is in good condition for the age, looks nice, and has been taken care of. There are a few minor items here and there which typically come with older vehicles which I’ve tried to note above (there may be a couple other items a new driver will notice, however I’ve tried to list the primary ones I’ve noticed). Will be a good, reliable, affordable, nice looking, commuter vehicle for someone. I live in Highlands Ranch Colorado (a suburb just south of Denver, Colorado). This vehicle is being sold as is with no warranty. It is the Buyers responsibility to inspect the vehicle if needed prior to bidding and auction end. Buyer is 100% responsible for the vehicle at the time of purchase. Obviously with the age of the vehicle I make no guarantees as to the future mechanical condition of the vehicle. Buyer will be responsible for pickup or shipment of the vehicle and assumes all risk. Buyer must pay and pick up vehicle within 7 days of auction close. If vehicle is not picked up within 7 days I reserve the right to relist or sell to another potential buyer. Payment preference is cash or cashiers check. Will accept a personal check but must wait for it to clear (however long that will take). Please contact me with any questions. Email: bdr0011@yahoo.com. Phone: 303-635-6521; ask for Brent or Valerie (my wife). Thank you.
