Vehicle Detail
A beautifully restored 1965 Porsche 912 on a rust free body, painted in it's original polar red color (6602 color code). Black interior and all chrome has been restored. This car has it's original engine (serial number 743887) with it's great shifting 5-speed transmission. This 912 was restored with very high standards using only German materials. The car is a pleasure to drive as we enjoyed it driving today along the California coast and through the world famous Mullholland Highway, stopping to take photos at the Rock Store. The engine pulls very strong throughout all of the gears....handling the car was a joy through the Malibu canyon switchbacks. It is hard to describe how nice this car is...complete with a tool kit, jack and one key to operate both the ignition and the door locks. All paperwork is kept in a a 3-ring binder of maintenance, repair and build records! We have taken a lot of photos...please read the list of what has been done during the restoration of this amazing car! Paint and Body: bare metal re-paint with many hours spent detailing the engine compartment and under carriage. The car was rust free to start with. Body received full primer and a coat of original polar red paint...then clear coat! We just had the car color sanded and polished. Paint looks like glass! Under carriage has been professionally done in black under coating. This process is documented with photos and is part of the car's maintenance and repair records. New windshield and all other glass is original...all new seals! Interior: Interior is done in original German material...black, clean, looks like new. Refinished wood wheel with wood dash which houses the original Blau radio. Dash gauges have been restored, Euro kilometer speedo gauge...3-gauge dash with green face and new chrome rings. Headliner is also new with very hard to find new sun visors. Working heater and defroster...everything in the interior works as it should including the interior lights. Engine and Transmission: Engine number 743887 is the original to this car and has been completely re-built with less than 2,500 miles on it. The engine has big bore kit (NPR big bore NOS 1750cc). Cylinder heads have been re-done by Competition Engineering and were in perfect shape which included new valves and new springs. Crank shaft is standard. Carburetor Solex's 40's. All sheet metal powder coated. Original 022 distributor. Engine idles and runs very strong. Transmission is a 5-speed originally delivered with Nadella axles but was converted to Lobro style. Shifts through all gears as it should with no synchro issues. All new shift bushings and pedal assembly re-bushed. Rims and Tires: Original steel wheels have been re-chromed and look like new with hub cabs still retaining the original Porsche crest, including the spare. Tires are 185 x 75 in great shape. Accessories: Great maintenance and repair records, including build sheet and restoration records. Old catalogs from the 1970's are included. All paperwork neatly organized in a 3-ring binder. This car has a complete tool kit with jack. Ask all questions...car is available for viewing by serious buyers, by appointment only. We can arrange world wide shipping.
