Vehicle Detail
*****PLEASE NOTE: I am listing this car with NO RESERVE. If you would like to make an offer please leave a phone number or call me at (917) 749-4302 cell. Lets make these bids legit please. These auctions cost money and I don't have time to start chasing you. Thank you and good luck. ***** Please note: vehicle has some salvage history in the late 1980s. Curretly has a CLEAN & CLEAR title but because of this ridiculous ebay system I have to list it as salvage in the description. UP FOR AUCTION IS A SHARP LOOKING AND INCREASINGLY RARE 1981 PONTIAC TRANS AM TURBO 4.9L INDIANAPOLIS 500 PACE CAR NASCAR EDITION WITH THE ONE-YEAR-ONLY RECARO INTERIOR. REAL "Y85" CAR (with original BUILD SHEET to prove it as well) AND ONE OF ONLY 2000 EVER MADE THAT RUNS/DRIVES BEAUTIFULLY AND YOU CAN HOP IN AN DRIVE ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY. VERY SHARP CRUISER THAT WILL BE A LOT OF FUN FOR COLLECTOR OR ENTHUSIAST. FACTORY OPTIONS: Power steering Power DISC front brakes Power windows Power door locks Air conditioning Glass T-tops (with original GM t-top bags) Dual exhaust FACTORY Recaro bucket seat interior (only available in 1981 on this particular model) Factory Trans Am Turbo wheels wearing radial tires MATCHING NUMBERS 4.9L Turbocharged motor Automatic transmission NASCAR INDY 500 PACE CAR OPTION PACKAGE This is a REAL and documented 1981 Nascar Trans Am Pace Car with original BUILD SHEET (See picture), that came factory with a TON of standard options. Comes from the midwest and has been stored indoors for the last few years, driven on occasion just to exercise it. This is an UNRESTORED ORIGINAL CAR that does not show signs of being repainted from the looks of it (if it has been, it was probably a long time ago and done fairly well), retains original Recaro interior and has 89k ORIGINAL MILES. Very original and all stock with nearly no modifications other than an aftermarket cassette radio. Interior is in GOOD original condition with general minor wear here and there. Seats and door panels are nice with minor wear and a couple of tiny holes. Dash pad and carpet are presentable. Headliner looks decent. Good console. Glass t-tops have NO CRACKS and are in good shape. Overall a very presentable driver quality interior! Under the hood lies the correct and original Matching Numbers 301ci 4.9L Turbocharged V8 with Turbo Hydramatic transmission. Starts easily and sounds great with a nice and quiet idle. Good stock power overall and brakes stop VERY WELL. Nice and solid throughout. Steering is nice and nimble. Very fun to drive and you can hop in and drive it wherever you like. It's never left me stranded and always starts up nicely. I've driven it mostly around town here and there and every once in a while on the highway on the way to a cruise night or local show. I would suggest having it gone through before going on a cross-country trip, just to be safe but I don't see why the car couldn't drive anywhere. Underside shows GOOD floorboards with some surface rust but no noticeable holes or major rot that I could see and SOLID frame throughout from what I could see. NICE and SOLID trunk compartment as well. Being an old car, it is NOT perfect by any means. Paint shines up DECENTLY for a good driver. General imperfections from driving, like small scrapes/scratches/chips etc as you would expect. Hood has a few spots where the clear is peeling, as well as on the top of the passenger fender. Center of hood has a couple of rust spots the size of a silver dollar within the bird decal that you can't see in the pictures. Roof has some wrinkles and small dents by the tunnel between the t-tops and nees to be repainted there. Front and rear bumpers have various chips/scuffs/scrapes and some spyderwebbing up close. Missing one "0" from the "500" on passenger side door. Not working: a/c, cowl lights (missing little flap inside), door locks, clock, perhaps a couple of bulbs need replacing. I am sure there are other tiny details i've forgotten so please keep that in mind, this is NOT a brand new car obviously. It basically needs a good deal of tiny finishing touches or a good aesthetic restoration eventually, depending on what you want to do with it. OVERALL IT'S A SHARP LOOKING TURN-KEY CRUISER THAT YOU CAN HOP IN AND DRIVE ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY. THIS IS A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A VERY DESIRABLE 1981 PONTIAC 4.9L TURBO TRANS AM NASCAR INDY 500 PACE CAR EDITION WITH 91K ORIGINAL MILES THAT YOU CAN HOP IN AND ENJOY RIGHT NOW!
