Vehicle Detail

This 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible has been my driver for the last six years. The odometer reads 56,601 miles as of this listing. It is still my driver, so that may change slightly during this listing. The car has been rebuilt, so this is not exact original mileage. The motor was pulled and completely rebuilt around 38,000 miles. At 43,000 the head gasket and manifold gaskets were replaced. At 49,000 or so, there was valve problem and one of the rods came out bent. So the last major engine work was 7,000 miles ago or so. That's about 18,000 on the bottom end since the rebuild and around 7,000 on the top end since last winter. Condition: The car runs great and drives great. I drove it to a conference for business last March and had no problems in crowded downtown traffic. The rust is pretty bad for a nice car. It needs to have the trunk pan redone. The floorboards are new and nice. The frame is straight. I had one minor fender bender on the front left side. The top is new. It was installed in Spring '08. The pump, lines, and cylinders were all redone in 2009. We spent nearly $2000 on all that. I think one of the cylinders may already be leaking, but it should be an easy fix. The parts on the top are all new and the frame is great, so no one should have any problems at this point. The interior is nearly perfect. The black carpet is brand new NOS style , not the year one thing that splits in the middle. The seats are the same as when I bought it. They are great except for the driver's seat. It is splitting the fabric in the driver'seat area, as pictured, but the foam is good. The dash and door panels are good. The 16" American Racing Wheels and directional Kumho tires are brand new including a matching spare, over $3000. The Panasonic stereo has a CD player and works. Original wheels and decent BF goodrich tires included. Features: rebuilt 455 Oldsmobile motor with Edlebrock Performer 455 aluminum manifold, Barry Grant Demon 750 carb, K&N XSTREAM air cleaner with protective cover, MARCH performance polished SERPENTINE PULLEY SYSTEM with all-new polished accessories including power steering pump with remote resevoir, 135 amp alternator, and Sanden 508 AC compressor; Mondello Fluid Harmonic Balancer, new timing chain, Iridium spark plugs (yes! iridium, you'll probably never need any more), New plug wires, new regulator, new vacuum box, new wiper motor, Optima RED battery, HEI distributor with super coil, new overflow cannister, new aluminum high efficiency radiator, new temperature regulated dual electric pusher/puller fans, new Mondello cam and valve train with roller rockers and all new parts, specially modified Ga code heads for gobs of low end torque with about 9:1 compression - runs great on pump gas. The exhaust features Kooks 2" stainless headers ($650) coated in jet hot (Another $600, with lifetime warrantee from jet hot) hooked into long stainless steel collectors connected to a new 3" stainless steel x-pipe, new Dynomax Mufflers, and Flowmaster pre-bent 3" aluminized tailpipes. Original Turbo 400 transmission shifts smooth and great, just serviced it last year. Original rear end with Highway gears works fine. The AC blows ICE cold. There is currently no heater core- you don't need a heater in where I live. The car has power steering and power brakes. The steering box and linkage are new. The idler arm and assembly is new. The brakes have been redone with all new lines, new booster, new drums and new disks. I forgot to mention that the front end has been completely rebuilt. It has been maybe 2 years and no more than 8,000 miles since the rebuild, and the shocks and springs are new all around. It has Hotchkiss springs and matching bilstein shocks in the front. The shocks and springs were ordered from the same place and installed by the same guy, and these bilstein shocks are supposed to go with the hotchkiss, or so I was told at the time I guess. It has KYB shocks and factory replacement moog cargo coils in the back. It needs one more inch of ground clearance at least in my opinion, but some people like'em low. I have new coils to go with the car that would give it another half inch or so of ride height back. It's near stock height for a 442, but a tad too low for me. Handles great, does not need the rear sway bar with this setup, but you could add one if you wanted.
