Vehicle Detail
Hi, this is a rare 1986 RG500 with big bore kit by Rick Lance (http://www.lancegamma.com/) kit so approximately 565 cc. Chassis aligned by GMD Computrak. See link: http://www.gmd-computrack.com/ This is an extremely strong running RG. I have owned three of these bikes and this is by far the strongest probably due to the big bore kit although my other ones were modified as well. This bike has vintage Suzuki GSXR wheels (from a 1989 I believe) to accommodate larger rubber, a very common modification, as well as a Lance Gamma air filter kit, EBC rotors and pads, steel braided brake lines, Fox rear clicker shock, GSXR upside down forks (from a 1991 I believe) and the larger radiator from Lance Gamma. It may have a couple other modifications as well that I cannot think of at the moment. It also has a set of Tommy Crawford expansion chambers which are no longer produced and are difficult to find. A nice set of these pipes alone would cost a couple of thousand dollars. According to Rick Lance these are the absolute best pipes to run with a big bore kit. The bike currently has a vintage GSXR front fairing with the dual headlights which unfortunately restricts the turning radius over than the stock set up. If I were to keep the bike, I personally would go back to the stock front faring. I should also mention that I have the belly pan piece for the bike but decided not to put it on as it is cracked and rather beat up looking. All this bike really needs is cosmetics and perhaps some lighter wheels to make it a show stopper besides probably adding close to $3000 in value to the bike which will only appreciate over time. I had planned on putting on all new bodywork (except for the tail section which is a high quality Lance Gamma fiberglass, (not plastic) piece) from http://www.lancegamma.com/ and having it painted in the livery of the racing RG500's or RGV500's of the day. In fact, I still have new in the box the full Lucky Strike decal set that was used on the Kevin Schwantz RGV500 when he raced that particular bike. If you want to get an idea of what it would look like just Google Kevin Schwantz RGV500 Lucky Strike. I also have some additional parts that come with the bike as well; some rough RGV250 bodywork, RGV250 gas tank, as well as a trick banana style swingarm from an RGV250. The bike is legally registered in California and it is currently in non operational status so there are no penalties for back registration. Needless to say, I also have the clear and cloud free title to the bike. I cannot describe in words what it is like to ride one of these bikes when it comes on the pipe other than to say it is a rush like no other. You really have to experience it yourself. Please take a look at the video clip below. It shows the bike running right after a cold start. Almost forgot; I believe the odometer is in kilometers as opposed to miles ( I will double check) which would work out to something like 13,360 miles. That number is really irrelevant, however, as the big bore kit has less than 7500 miles on it. Thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vMMZBwRx-4
