1984 Aston Martin Lagonda Sedan Click Image for Photos 1984 Aston Martin Lagonda When introduced, the wickedly razor-edged Lagonda was ranked in the same category as the ultra luxury Bentley Mulsanne and high performance Maserati Quattroporte for more reasons than just its $150,000 price tag. Although an unconventional departure in styling for Aston Martin, the Lagonda’s extreme wedge design drew the much needed attention and support that would keep the manufacturer afloat. Within the folded lines of each hand-built body was a plush interior of leather and a state-of-the-art digital instrument panel. It was powered by a solid V-8 engine which could take its driver on a smooth touring ride or on a high speed race down the highway. When production ceased in 1989, only 645 examples had been built with a mere 20 being imported to the U.S. each year between 1982 and 1989. Drivetrain: The Aston Martin listed here retains its stock 5.3-liter V-8 engine with Chrysler 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. It starts and runs well, although we’ve only driven it around the facility, so we can’t vouch for how it will run above parking lot speeds. Brakes are a little soft but seem to work just fine. Exterior: The Lagonda’s strong steel structure is covered by a lightweight, hand-formed aluminum body. The paint looks good overall but has a few chips and some minor bubbling in a couple spots on hood. It is equipped with tons of exterior lighting, including headlights, spot lights, front and rear fog lights, and hazard warning lights. And in the event of rain, it’s ready with its two-speed wipers. Interior: The spacious leather interior is in very good shape and features standard amenities such as cruise control, air-conditioning, power windows, power seats and an AM/FM radio with cassette player. The glass panel above the rear passenger compartment is in good condition. The digital dash seems to be working except for a couple of the gauges, including the clock and odometer. The original tool kit and spare tire are in the trunk along with the dash pad and battery shut-off. The owner’s manual and parts catalogue also come with the Lagonda. Overall: Please keep in mind that this Aston Martin was sitting in storage for an extended period of time and was probably in need of attention before that. It runs and drives, but it might require a thorough examination before being considered “roadworthy.” The Aston Martin is currently registered in the state of California.
