Vehicle Detail

This very early "three pot" dash 912 has been in our family for almost 40 years; we are the second owners. The car was originally purchased in Germany and driven around Europe. The original owner shipped the car to San Rafael, CA and it has remained in California ever since. He traded the car in on an XKE in 1970 and my Uncle liked it so much, he hung on to it. After my two cousins drove the car briefly; it made it's way to me; I've had it ever since. The car is in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition. I have done a very complete redo of essential items. Paint is very good but with usual driving dings (this car is meant to drive !). Interior is like new; all seats redone; new carpet; new headliner; new door and window seals; nice vintage Momo wood wheel; recently added three point belts for increased safety. Engine is from a low milage 1969 912 with heavy duty rear engine mount installed for minimum vibration; less engine shake. Motor was bought from EASY in Emeryville, Ca; currently has less than 500 miles on top end rebuild. Carbs also rebuilt; all sheet metal power coated. Engine runs very strong; 69 motor is a real screamer in this car. Car has a five speed trans in very good condition with new total clutch package; very nice to drive on country roads as 2nd to 3rd is up and down, not cross gate shifting like 4 speed. Tires like new with original hub caps in very good condition (try and find these at a reasonable price). Front storage completely cleaned up with new carpet added. Underside of car completely cleaned; treated with rust preventer and new, proper undercoating applied (Wurth). All brakes rebuilt/redone. Suspension taken apart, cleaned, painted, and re-assembled with new bushings. New CVs and new shocks installed. The majority of this work was not done by me, but by qualified mechanics/interior specialists. Some minor things need to be added: sun visors need to be installed (bought good, correct set from Easy along with new rearview mirror); some small interior pieces need re-glueing (pieces on side post ); will get this done before sale is complete. Side mirror is cracked; should be replaced; these are easily available. Trunk, engine, and bumpers have new seals installed. Tailights have new lenses. All and all this is a very good example of tan early 912 model in very good condition. Took her to the recent 912 Registry outing in Northern California. Drove her on Marin country roads to Tomales Bay and then to near Santa Rosa; drove her back and fourth to Berkeley each night. She ran very strong with no incidents whatsoever. Only four of these very early cars were present; always draws a crowd of interested folks. I'm selling this car because I'm thinning my herd. Focusing on my early 911's. Hate to see her go; but am confident that she will make some lucky buyer very pleased. I have the car advertised locally and on several Porsche specialty forums; so I reserve the right to stop the sale at any point. 912's of this vintage are rare; haven't seen too many even on the street or for sale anywhere. If you want to reach me: email me thru this ad and I can answer any question you might have. As with all vintage cars: car is sold in as-is condition with no o guarantees offered or implied.
