Vehicle Detail
This is not your average '88 Turbo Coupe. This car is stunning! Nick-named the “Silver Bullet”, almost $20,000 has been invested in this automobile. I am only selling this car due to economic circumstances. I bought this car in 1998. Since then, over the years, I have invested heavily in this car because I saw a great deal of potential in a complete restoration. It is now about 90% complete. I have receipts for most of what was done. A few highlights: Body professionally painted and restored in 2001 for a cost of $3,400 which included the removal and restoration of body panels and also sand blasting of the wheel rims and having them painted a matching bright metallic silver color. The underneath of the hood was painted as well. You may notice in the pictures that there is no front emblem. This is not a defect but rather a custom feature to smooth out the front to make the car look more streamlined. The original prototypes looked similar. This was the only customized change done to the car except for a new stereo added (see below). Sanyo Excedio High Power EXCD1000 45 watt x 4 Stereo System with Cassette and CD (I still have and will include the original stereo if you would like to keep it original). Two new Dual Exhaust Systems New Front and Rear Brakes New Rear Brake Cables Two new Electronic Shock Absorbers New Timing Belt New Clutch, Pressure Plate and Throw-Out Bearing New Wiper Motor New Head Gasket New Battery New Pirelli High Speed Tires Two new Outer Tie Rod Ends Two new Lower Ball Joints Two new Lower Control Arm BushingsAnd Much More! This car is definitely a head-turner and has a nice sound to the engine with a low rumble coming from the dual exhausts (factory original). It has power windows, power seats, and electronic ride control. Also ABS, an electric sun roof, and leather seats. It has a 5 speed manual transmission (5'th. gear is overdrive). The 4 cylinder inter-cooled turbo packs quite a punch! This car is fast and runs great. Since it is a 4 cylinder, it also gets great mileage. The specs sheet (included with documents) states that this car does zero to sixty in 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 137 mph. This car comes with the original owner's manual and other documentation. Since its restoration, this car has been garage kept. I haven't driven it much in the last few years, only to take it out for a Sunday drive now and then. My last long trip was a few years back when I took it down to Tennessee. As I mentioned, this car runs perfectly. It is probably one of the best condition '88 Turbo T-birds in existence. Now for what it still needs: 1. There are two hairline cracks in the dash, not that noticeable. 2. The two red plastic seat belt covers near the center console have split. This is only cosmetic, and does not affect the functionality or safety of the seat belts. I have put black tape around the tops to hold them together. 3. One of the lock buttons on the door has lost its chrome finish and needs to be replaced or refinished. 4. The paint job is still perfect, no dents or scratches, however, there is a quarter inch piece of silver tape on the driver’s side door edge to cover a small imperfection. Someone who is skilled in detailing can probably fix this. 5. The engine can use a bit more detailing. I was going to have the aluminum head cover refinished and polished. This car is now located in Sussex County, New Jersey and will need to be picked up locally. I can not arrange shipment, however, if someone comes here to pick up the car, makes payment and arranges their own shipping, that, of course, is fine. After the auction, a PayPal deposit of $500.00 will hold the car and complete payment and pick-up need to be made within 10 days. Thank-You!
