Vehicle Detail
1972 MG Midget… My MG midget is a 1972. My father bought the car in 1994 so we could build it together. My father did not enjoy working on cars, so it sat until 2003 when he gave it to me… I got it running for a few months then I tore it down. It has taken many many hours and six or so years to get it where it is now. This car is so much fun to drive. It runs great. I put a painless wiring harness in to fix the poor stock wiring. Suspension: The front suspension has polyurethane bushings, and the coil springs are two inch lower as will they are stiffer then stock. The rear suspension has one-inch lower leaf springs, but I wish they were a bit stiffer. The wheels are Arrow racing wheels, which are wider then stock to fit the flared fenders. Paint and body: The paint and bodywork looks great! The front hood and fenders are fiberglass, and they are from "The Winner Circle". The winder fenders gives the car a much more aggressive look, and it also allows for much wider tires. I shaved the rear bumper, reverse lights, and fuel filler. The fuel filler is now in the trunk. The silver stripes and circles on the doors are paint. The 72 numbers on the hood and doors are just a sticker, which can be taken off or changed very easily. Engine: The engine is the stock engine, which was freshly rebuilt just before my father bought the car. The odometer did not work on when we bought the car, so the actual miles are unknown. The header is from moss motors. I took the dual S.U. carburetor off and put a single Webber down draft on. It has electronic ignition with a higher output coil. The engine is very reliable and run strong. It does leave a few small drips of oil after driving like most English cars do. The transmission is the stock 4-speed transmission. The wiring was in shambles so I pulled all the old wiring and replaced it with a painless wiring harness, so it has the up dated fuses. All the wiring connections were soldered and shrink-wrapped. I did not wire in the window wipers because I do not drive the car in the rain… they just need a switch and power hooked up. Interior: The interior has custom door panels, new carpet, new top, great seats, and custom auto-meter gauges (the fuel gauge reads backwards, and the speedometer is not reading correctly… I think the sending unit is reading in KPH not MPH) Since starting the build I have bought many new parts… Painless Wiring Harness New radiator Webber Carburetor Electronic ignition Moss Header New front coil and rear leaf springs New carpet kit New top Paint Halogen conversion headlights Driving lights New Clutch maybe 100 miles ago.New fuel tank... sprayed with bed linerNew Arrow racing wheelsFiberglass hood and fenders And so on… The car is so much fun to drive, and everywhere you drive people always want to talk about the car. It is great on fuel. I am selling my car, so I can work on another car project. If you have any questions please ask my name is Nathan.
